Does anyone else convert film (8mm, Super 8, etc.) to digital? I normally use either a Kodak Moviedeck with built in viewer, or a mirror device with a standard projector, and capture/passthrough with my Sony DCR-TRV350 camcorder. Both the Moviedeck and my projectors have variable speed control adjustments, and I have been able to use them to minimize flicker due to the different frame rates between film and digital capture, the resulting digital images in MP6 seem to show a more noticeable, and irritating, degree of flashing.
I have played with copying the source at an increased speed and decreasing the playback speed, as well as vice versa, both yielding unsatisfactory results. Does anyone know of any filters or effects that might aid in reducing the flicker?
This is strictly for personal family products so it doesn't have to be perfect. I'm just trying to preserve these memories before the film gets any worse than it already is.
TIA,
John
