I don’t think you made a mistake, Sandy. Each overlap in ‘Difference’ blend mode is going to invert the colour.

Geoff's, while more laborious, worked fine.

It’s certainly more laborious, but it’s obviously worth the effort if you need the flexibility.

Done with 1pt line and looks fine and as you say more like the original. I actually like both - with and without the line.

Sandy, if you add a thin black line to the white text, it will look more like your sample, separating, the "S" from the "um" and the "l" from the "b".

Create a black and white — or coloured — background and put white Artistic Text on top of it. With the text object selected, go to the Blend Mode dropdown list at the bottom of the Colour tab and change the blend mode from ‘Normal’ to ‘Difference’. Where the background is black, the text will remain white; where the background is white, the text will turn black; and — if applicable — where the background is coloured, the text will take on the inverse of that colour (e.g. a green background will yield magenta text).

In an old magazine I came across the image in the attached and would like to re-create it in PPX9.

I have tried and tried but can't fathom how to do it - gettiing white text in the upper portion on a black background and black text on the lower portion on a white background.

Any help appreciated.
