Your pedantry was spot on. The Serif delivery notes in my DVD cases have product keys, 25 digit alphanumeric codes.

Registration keys don’t enable you to install the software: they were only ever used to harvest contact details so that Serif sales staff could pester you to purchase other products.

Unregistered ‘Plus’ products will start nagging you to register a month after first launch. To prevent this, choose the ‘Registration Wizard’ option from the Help menu within the program and enter the Universal Registration Key:

Long time (ago) Serif software user, then there was no Serif, and I took a break from publishing on the web or on paper.

Just re-installed WebPlux X7 and PagePlusX7 (the latest I happened to have on DVD), on Windows 11, even found patches for them in my archive.

Why? Well, thank you for asking... I wanted to update my home network infrastructure WPP page with some new fun stuff and reinstalling some of my old Serif software was the path of least resistance to do that

Thankfully my 2015 me saw fit to put the Serif delivery notes, with registration codes, in the DVD cases! Otherwise I would really have been stuffed!

It’s a pity that avatar dimensions are limited to 60 pixels. That’s OK for a geometric ‘identicon’, but a lot of fine detail is lost from the more elaborate images.
