Not long ago I purchased a new fridge freezer which I had carefully chosen to fit the space where the old one was. When one of the delivery men pulled the old one out from the wall, he discovered that it was wired in. Fortunately he was able to detach the old power cable from the wiring plate, and there is a socket next to the allotted space, so it was possible to plug in the new appliance without waiting to have an additional socket installed in place of the wiring plate.

GB wrote:

But is the ban just the EU, so no longer applies for the UK?

As far as I am aware from reading news reports over a long period and yesterday, the policy of the UK government is, and also was under the previous government, to have UK food standards in alignment with EU standards, which I think means that the UK will not have EU rules but that the UK rules will be the same in content as the EU rules. So de jure not EU rules but de facto no everyday practical difference from if they were. But that is just how it appears to me as an observer of media reports and listening to speeches.

There are some EU originated rules that are worth keeping.
