I added one - seems not to have appeared. Oh, well.

I assumed that Chris meant his comment to be taken as tongue-in-cheek! It seems highly unlikely that a low-traffic site such as this one would prompt a significant boost in a YouTube channel’s viewing stats.

Oh, dear! Yes, I know it was tongue-in-cheek - did you not see my winking emoji?

But, if it were meant seriously, then no, promoting her here would do not good at all, which is why I do it on a high-traffic site (Discord).

I think there was more to it: I have been promoting her stuff, too.

Elaine is a very good teacher - I like her style (it's very similar to my own - I was a teacher for over thirty years and Head of Department for ten of them). The pace is just right - you can work along with her easily if you have a dual monitor set-up - and she breaks everything down into very clearly defined steps. It's all very well thought out - she'd get 10/10 from me for her lesson planning!

FYI: Anyone using the New Posts view, as I do exclusively, is going to see multiple postings. It's not a problem per se, but if the forum were busy and lots of people were eager for feedback and doing it, then it would quickly became VERY annoying, which is why thread duplication is generally against a forum's rules. I have to deal with it as a moderator myself (not here, of course).

Cross-posting is when you post the same post to multiple forums; duplicate posting is the same thing, but within one forum.

Parental control is already possible, and many parents still do use it, but it's a bit like Pandora's box, mainly because of smart phones. Even the most vigilant of parents can get caught out these days. Parenting in this respect is nowhere near as easy as it was with Internet access pretty much ubiquitous. It's something that requires more than parental control: schools and those offering online content have to take responsibility, too.

The average teenager is more tech savvy than the average parent, and will most likely know how to outwit them. We are living in a very different world these days.

It will affect you, Alfred - this is going to have to be rolled out across pretty much every platform on the Internet if we are to keep our young people safe. It's just the tip of the iceberg.

This isn't a passport application, though. It's a step in the right direction: there will be flaws in any new system, but it takes time to find something that's as foolproof as it can be.

Instead of saying, "Well, some people will be able to fool this" (there will always be people who will want to get round the rules), I prefer to say, "Great - at last they are starting to address the issue."

I suppose it depends on whether you are a glass half full or a glass half empty person, and of course, it's all too easy to sit in your armchair and criticise from afar.

"Submit a video selfie for facial age estimation"

What if you submit someone else's face?

The wording is misleading: it's a live look at you using either the phone or laptop camera, similar to when you set up a device for facial recognition.

The issue about using someone else's face would be the same if you were asked for documentary ID, but they have to start somewhere. Something is better than nothing.

I have already validated my age on another site this way:

Submit a video selfie for facial age estimation

I am very much of the opinion that it is important for the Internet to get a handle on who is able to access what. I think we all recognise that certain aspects of the Internet can be damaging, particularly to minors, and that sites should be responsible for controlling it. We can't have our cake and eat it.

OK, Alan. No problem. I shall know better than to offer any help in future.

I really don't see how that has anything to do with it

Well, you have just discovered the problem yourself by looking at your WP file and recognising that something was missing. We could not have told you this without seeing the WP file, so if you wanted help, your WP file would have had everything to do with it!!!

Without seeing how you have set up the WP file, nobody will be able to answer your question. Where would we start?

I've subscribed to her channel - looks quite good.

To be fair, Serif didn't make that decision. The Discord server has been set up by Canva.

The General Chat is not conducive to giving and receiving help, but the threaded resource and Ask the Community sections seem to work well enough. It's not the same as a forum, but my mindset is to try to make the best of what is there.

OK, so as you clearly think that knowing my business is relevant to answering your question: yes, integrity is and has always been important in my work. I was a teacher by profession and I now volunteer for a charity.

I don't use any form of AI for anything. I do a lot of DTP work as an amateur for all sorts of reasons, and have done for over three decades, and never once have I been asked what software I use. If I were asked, I would happily state that I now use Affinity Studio. If anyone raised any concerns about AI, I would simply tell them that I do not subscribe to Canva AI, and therefore cannot use AI in my work.

I don't know any DTP software that does not offer some form of AI these days, but I shall have to bow to your superior knowledge in this field. Adobe remains the industry standard and does offer AI, which is why I asked that question.

I appreciate that it might not be quite so simple for you.

Is there a reason why you have to tell your readership which DTP software you are using? I ask because I am not a professional publisher.

Perhaps you don't need that sort of integrity in your work?

I shall ignore this. Don't make anything personal, please.

What's more, if you don't subscribe to Canva AI, then you can turn off the Canva AI Studio in the UI altogether.

The free version does not include the AI stuff. Unless you subscribe, then you are free of it.

Adobe also offers a lot of AI tools: why is it OK for Adobe and not OK for Canva?

I think anyone troubleshooting this will need the file, not a picture.

No file attached, Chris.

The link doesn't work. Thanks for the information.

Affinity has no web design capability, but it is completely free.

Your best bet would be WYSIWYG Web Builder, not least because there are those of us here who use it and who might be able to guide you with it. It is not expensive.

Not quite sure how to read this statement, but if you felt I was being flippant or dismissive, I am sorry - I wasn't.

Sorry, I didn't realise this from your opening post.
