The 3.0.2 installer is now available on Check for Updates in the app.

Maybe you skim read these posts, but as I said, both the 3.0.2 update nor the fonts are yet to be made available. Yes, we are expecting an E-mail when the fonts are released.

I don't know about you, but I hate Discord with passion.

I don't like it, but I don't hate it, either. Spending time to get to know it helps.

I think that this, like the gift fonts download page that was shared on Discord yesterday, are there in readiness for an imminent announcement.

Someone is getting lucky at guessing URLs, I think ...

Not actually available yet, though.

Ali, could I ask where you got that information about the coding changes?

Joe has explained perfectly above the sort of problems you will run into. I suspect your brother-in-law will be hand coding, which is not the same thing at all. Bottom line is that WPX8 is outdated software, so unless your website will be simplistic in the extreme, I wouldn't use it.

But it's up to you, of course, and if your brother-in-law knows more about WPX8 than I do, then by all means, follow his advice and not mine and Joe's.

There seems to be a strong sentiment in this post and also in your comment on my post about the mobile sites that it’s no longer suitable to use web plus X8 or any of the web plus software in the modern environment. Would that be correct?

No, designing for mobile sites is not my main concern about using WebPlus X8 now. The bigger issue that should inform your choice of software is that WebPlus produces code that was up-to-date when Serif stopped developing that software. Browser architecture and security has changed in the meantime, and you would be far better advised to use software that is still in active development and keeping up with modern HTML rather than something that is stuck in the past and generating outdated code.

Furthermore, you would only have two fixed layouts to choose between. With a modern product such as WWB, you can define multiple breakpoints to cater for a selection of different screen sizes — so the result is, technically, adaptive rather than responsive — which is not only more flexible but also makes site maintenance much less of a chore.

In practice, you need only one breakpoint (for mobile phones). Tablets will be able to use the responsive desktop design. You can have as many as you want, of course, but as Pablo (the developer) advised me when I was building my site in January, they are rarely needed.

When I was using WebPlus, I used Forms To Go and found it brilliant.

I have now switched to WYSIWYG Web Builder 20, which has forms built in, but I am thinking of integrating Forms To Go again.

Hi Ali,

Why would you use' forms to go' when WYSIWYG Web Builder has php built into the forms, if you want to use it.

Joe

Because it had absolutely fantastic customisation features, the like of which WWB built-in forms do not have at the moment. But as Alfred has noted, it's now moot.

As I said in another thread, I'd be inclined to take the opportunity to move on.

ECWID is a shopping cart that several WebPlus users incorporated into their sites quite successfully.

I think, as I said in another thread, that it might be the right time for you to move on to fresh and current software for the job - WebPlus is no longer developed and the code it generates might work, but will be out-of-date.

I used to use WPX8, but decided it was time to move on just over a year ago.

I now use WYSIWYG Web Builder 20, which allows you to build a responsive site that will adapt for all devices. There's a learning curve, but there is an active support forum.

If you stick with WPX8, you have to build a mobile-friendly version of your site and then set parameters for the desktop site to recognise mobile devices and switch to the mobile version - it's two sites, effectively, that would both need maintaining.

Bhikkhu Pesala - no idea. I stopped posting on the old Affinity forums until he disappeared from there, so I don't know what made him stop in the end. I don't know that he ever switched to Affinity as he was a big book producer, and probably found PagePlus X9 more feature-rich (Layout in Affinity Studio is still not on par, although it's getting there).

I did query this and was told that it would require a lot of work to provide a light mode ...

Who gave you that response?

Version 3.0.1 is already out. It was released about one week after launch.

I am expecting there to be a significant update early next year, but don't know if there'll be anything else in the meantime.

I am sorry if I caused this spat, it is the first time in many years that I have posted something in a Forum topic where it has caused a problem I have always strived to be polite and respectful of other members.

It's not your fault.

Ah yes, the “rush hour”, when the last thing anyone can do is rush! I’ve always wondered who dreamed up that great misnomer.

One definition of 'rush' is:

a sudden quick movement towards something, typically by a number of people.

Given that this is the time when most people will be travelling to or from work, I have always thought it quite apt.

Oh, I agree, but they have been changed. All we can do is lobby for them to be changed back. I've sent feedback, as have many others.

I have no idea about the crowns - I shan't be using the AI features.

Welcome Screen to be switched off

Light UI

These are not classed as bugs. They are changes to the app since V2. However, a lot of people are asking for change, many for reasons of accessibility, so I am hopeful that this issue will be addressed at some point.

OK, well it's only been a week, and something is better than nothing.

Which fixes where you hoping to see? I understand that more fixes are on the way.
