I'm back from Discord. Have you people really minds so fast to be able to discover some hint of thread of conversation in that mess?

After watching most of the event, I admit to feel a bit of nausea.

What comes out of the event is an elation of oversimplification. Don't learn, we have the easy solution for you.

Affinity was out of place there, but at the same time trapped into the event, without any hope to escape.

I watched most of the event, but not all: too much for me, at my age.

That could be remedied easy enough if they had a preference setting that let you set the default background preference depending on what mode/tools you are working with.

Let's hope it will happen! I'm immediately going to suggest this to them in their forum!

Weren't we told they "listened" to us?  Who did they listen to?

We must find out that rogue fella who spoke with them and gave them the wrong inputs!

Many people are happy because the new app is free. As I see it, you will pay in having your money as a customer be worth nothing. You can no longer vote with your pocket. This explains why they removed the forum as a way to get user feedback. They no longer need user feedback.

The single app... I use spaces heavily, I have Publisher on one space, Photo in another

I, too, have a modal way of approaching the page layout work. But I'm mainly doing page layout, with vector design and photo editing as a supporting thing.

With the new app the idea is to start from the image, with page layout as just a support for it. As we can see from the presentation, Canva is based on image-centric communication. As a GenX, I now know better than ever that my text-centric approach is obsolete.

So, it's all about changing the world to make it a better place, with all the people smiling and marching together.

Oh. And I just wanted to complete that brochure to bring some money home at the end of the month…

I like that it's all one app.

I don't. I need white background when assembling elements for page layout, and dark background when retouching photos. As a single app, I'm forced to change it every time.

Light mode removed from the UI…

Ouch – I'll be out at the time of the presentation. Will everyone that doesn't attend be excluded forever?

Just imagine this guy trying to find a good spot to get the signal on the smartphone…

This looks like the good old Serif: being sure those who will remain in V2 do it with the least amount of issues.

Hi,

Patrick just posted on the old, useless, outdated, not-good-for-trendy-youngsters, dead forum:

https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index. … beta-test/

Ok, we have two logo designers. An important professional sector for the seething world of small shops, startups and associations.

Isn't the Affinity Suite a bit more than that? Isn't there also publishing, photo editing, creative illustration, and everything concerning visual design?

I really can't be happy in seeing a whole community replaced by a few people whose main interests seems to be their presence on YouTube.

a group of designers who are Affinity users have been involved in the background.

Hoping they are really designers, and not just influencers.

Said otherwise: if you want your tools to become universal, you involve a mass of contributors into the discussion. Asking to a few of them will just give the opinionated view of the selected ones, that may have been selected after the opinionated view of the product manager.

My reputation was 891 (Outstanding). Much higher than in real life!

What the… they erased Natasha from our collective imagination before I could even meet Serif???

I'm in The Netherlands and never had to do any age verification.

The same here in Italy. No verification. This means that I may be a kid exposed to horrific visions. But I suspect the real ones in danger in that place are on the opposite side of the age spectrum…

From time to time I look out at the discord chat. Do you, like me, feel an immediate sense of nausea?

To summarize my view on Canva's move:

Grrrr! GRRRRRRRR!!!
