Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Gordon, I'm glad you enjoyed it. We knew before we left home that the snowmen would be a feature at the Abbey, what we did not realise was that they would be themed by the "12 days of Christmas", which made it a bit more interesting. It was a a very similar experience when we went there last March when they had Shaun sheep models painted by artists. I found myself shooting the models almost in a formulaic fashion - one long shot from the front followed by a close up, then the back and not forgetting the so called joke.

I think I enjoyed videoing the birch trees in the winter garden more as I had to get a little more inventive, if that's the right word.

Thanks Albert.  It looks cold.  Beautiful artwork.  Did you sample the proper grilled cheese toasties?

Just a quicky ! I am soon getting another laptop that will be on windows 11, will MoviePlus install and work on it ?. I still have the original installation disc and it's still on 2 of my windows 10 laptops. I have moved it several times from one to the other as the windows moved up over the years and know how to do it.

Short answer - yes.

You're very welcome Eric. It was very cold but we wrapped up nice and warm, in fact Jill bought that brown hat she was wearing in the National Trust gift shop before we started out. As for the "Proper grilled cheese toasties", we did buy some and they were delicious together with a warming cuppa.

Re: Post your videos here

Hi guys ! I have nothing new to put on but I have been filming several bands, one of them will be about 90 mins long that I have been editing for the last 3 days on and off. We are still in Spain keeping away from the wet and cold UK !   It was actually 27c down on the playa today and I and sat outside wearing a T shirt and had a meal at one of the beach bars.
We were intending on stopping for February as well but unfortunately one of my best friends in the UK decided to commit suicide and we have to go to the funeral on the 3rd Feb !!
I don't think that I will be making a video of it though !!!!

Re: Post your videos here

We are back in the UK next week and I hope to find something of interest to video, meanwhile here is a little "snippet" of a band giving the OAPs down here in Spain their weekly exercises!

One short video that you might be interested in is one that I took off of an hour long video that I made when I took my brother to Spain. It is on the normal tour that I give when showing people around our area and is a hotel that was built about 30 odd years back. Unfortunately after a few years it started to fall down because of a landslide !

Re: Post your videos here

Wow Gordon, the two videos could not be more of a contrast could they. I really enjoyed the first one, full of joy and happiness and a really good band playing; very nicely filmed too. The other upload was all a bit depressing with music to match.

Thanks Albert, it is good to see people reliving their teenage years even if they have all sorts of physical problems that come to us all in later years. I suppose that I am lucky in that department (at the moment) !!!
As for the derelict hotel it's actually up for auction with a starting price of under 50k ! However anyone that buys it will have to have very deep pockets to do anything with it. I would think that whoever built it in the first place probably caused the problems when it was terraced and didn't have enough inspecting and professional help (if any at all) ! The whole of the approach road side of the plot is slowly falling into it.
Sue and I are flying back on Saturday and are now going to attend 2 funerals in the UK that seems to be the norm as we get older !

What are your MvPX6 export settings, Gordon? What are the specs of your laptop?

Strange.  I cannot find where this quote came from?  But presumably it's a render problem.  I realise it's winter up there but could it be the laptop overheating?

I can’t find Gordon’s post now either, Eric, but it was definitely there and I had no reason to delete it. If I had accidentally initiated a deletion I would have been prompted to confirm it, at which point I would have cancelled the procedure. Another one for the ever-growing list of life’s little mysteries!

Any laptop I’ve ever used for a processor-intensive task such as video editing has got very hot unless I’ve propped it up at the back, preferably using a stand with USB fans built in.

Re: Post your videos here

Hi you Boys ! I'm sorry but I deleted the thread very quickly as I had found the trouble before I had any answers !! It was totally me that had caused the fault that I had !!!  I went to the Race Repro show in Stoneleigh Park on Friday and walked around filming various cars and people and decided to make a film to show to some of my old mates from back in my car racing days.  I made proxy files and strung it all together and was quite satisfied with the results. I then went to export it and after a short time the fault showed up. I tried again with the same result! After checking the memory/ram etc I was thinking that I would have to reset MoviePlus, but I had a sudden thought as I had been using my camcorder filming birds the day before in 4K !!! and yes there was the answer. I do know that X6 will tolerate a very small amount of 4K (about 1.5gb) and will cope with 2.7K straight from my GoPro. Anyway I thought I have taken ages to edit it so I wanted to finish it, and instead of downgrading all of it to 1080p and re-doing it I just exported it in 720p and bingo it was OK. I'm not saying that it is possibly as good as if I had recorded it in 1080 but seeing that most people seem to watch things on a phone now I don't think it makes a lot of difference ?  You probably won't be that interested in the finished article but here it is.  https://youtu.be/y9gBVoi28yE Incidentally I have got a laptop cooling bed as it gets hot in Spain anyway especially if I am making a long video.

Or rather, you thought you didn’t have any answers! Presumably my answer was in the works but not yet posted.

I’m glad you identified the problem, Gordon. Thanks for posting again to tell us about it.

Yes I was scratching my head for a few minutes ! The problem is that the more updated computerized gear that I get the less I understand it !!! and I don't know any 6 year olds that could fix it in 30 seconds !

Re: Post your videos here

I have used a drone in the past very briefly, however I have now decided to buy a state of the art all singing and dancing model. watch this space !! Can you teach an old dog new tricks ?

Re: Post your videos here

I am still waiting for the drone to arrive, so as it was a nice day for a change I filmed the few flowers in the garden that are in bloom. It's only just over a minute long so we don't have many !
I am having tests in the hospital at the moment so we will be in the UK for a while, and hopefully I will be able to learn how to fly the drone ? I just need a 10 year old to show me the ropes !!!

Hi Alfred, The drone is arriving today !! also  I have had a good look at the ETA and I don't think that Sue and I need one ?
Regarding the tests, I have seen "some" of the results and those seem to be OK. I have 3 more funerals to go to in the next couple of weeks but it won't be mine at the moment !

I had to explain ‘ETA’ the other day when I used it to mean ‘Edited To Add’ in an online communication. The only other meaning I’m aware of is ‘Estimated Time of Arrival’. What ETA have you had a good look at?

Good to hear! Apart from your having to attend other people’s funerals, of course.

Alfred I thought you meant The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is a digital pre-travel permission required for non-visa nationals visiting the UK ! It's another piece of nonsense trying to stop prople getting into the UK !
The drone arrived today and at the moment I am trying to get the controller to comuicate with the drone !
We are going through one of those times where we are seem to be going to so many funerals that we are keeping the funeral wear hanging up in the bedroom waiting for the next one, maybe we will go dressed like this just to get a reaction from the other mourners !!! we have been to 2 since we came back to Blighty.
