Real-time Multi-user Collaborative Editing Experiment

Here is a story, written by people adding bits and editing, as an experiment in collaborative working.

Block numbers are as if decimal numbers from 0 to 0.99999.

So a block such as hashtag Block 15 would be a block after Block 1 but before block 2, and so on. This means that an email message could be applied to add a block or change a block and so on.

Oh, hashtags do not display "as is". So mayb something needs changing. THe idea is that for exporting the final version, each line starting with a hashtag could be deleted, perhaps automatically.

>>> EXPLANATORY NOTE

A # hash sign — not a “hashtag”, which is something rather different — is used to denote an item in an ordered list, in the same way as an * asterisk is used to denote an item in an unordered list. Precede the hash sign with a colour code (or simply two percent % signs) if you want it to be displayed.

  1. First item in an ordered list.

#Block 1

END OF EXPLANATORY NOTE <<<

Change the hashtag to vertical line, but vertical lines are used for tables, so change to an equals sign.

#Block 1

Sandra looked out of her bedroom window and gazed at the pond in the field next to her house. There were several pollarded willow trees surrounding the pond, as the roots of the trees help stabilize the banks of the pond.

#Block 2

Sandra turned and looked at the pot plant that was standing on the small wooden table.

#Block 3

Sandra walked to the door of the room.

#Block 4

Sandra went through the gate into the field.

#Block 5

Sandra got into the train and walked along the corridor to the compartment that she had reserved.

#Block 56

The ticket inspector explained to Sandra that the fares had gone up since she had bought her ticket and she would have to pay more.

Sandra explained that she had not enough money on her to pay the large increase.

"Then you will have to get off at the next station", insisted the ticket inspector.

"But I will be stranded, miles from my home and a long way from my destination", protested Sandra.

But the ticket inspector was insistent in the matter.

#Block 58

Sandra got off the train at the station and wondered how she could get to her destination.

#Block 6

6hrs later the train crashed and everyone died

#Block 9

Sandra felt really down when she finally got back home.

She prepared a quick meal and then decided to put on the television news.

"I could have been in that!" exclaimed Sandra out loud.
