It’s conventional for midnight to be referenced as 12:00 am
But would it not be more logical for 12:00 am to immediately follow 11:59 am, rather than 11:59 pm?

Looking at my local weather forecast, I see this warning pop-up.
Winter Storm - Watch
From 12/23/2022 12:00:00 AM to 12/24/2022 3:00:00 AM
Although 12 o'clock noon is of course neither before noon (AM), nor after noon (PM), and 12 o'clock midnight is both before noon and after after noon by exactly 12 hours in both cases, I assume the 12:00:00 AM referred to means Midnight.
I have worked out that 12/23/2022, and 12/24/2022 is really 23/12/2022 and 24/12/2022, so now I'm just trying to work out whether midnight on 12/23/2022 is at the start of the day, or 24 hours later, at the end of the day. Does this alert last for 27 hours or just 3 hours?
I do wish people would avoid such ambiguity. It would be easy enough to say that the alert was from 00:00:01 AM on 12/23/2022, removing all doubt.
Great video of Samoa, eric. Thanks.
Snooker is a great game, although actual snookering is a little aggressive. Snoozing is not unpleasant. Snorkelling is indulged in happily by many in tropical waters.
And what about snogging?
Or perhaps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMcabt1Tu0g
Just go to profile settings and set the time to actual in your area
Yes, that seems to work. Thanks.
We have snow here in western Washington State. Very rare this early. Only about an inch right here, but rain yesterday gave black ice on the roads as it froze after sunset. One car crashed off the local highway down into a small valley as a result.
Generally the climate hereabouts is similar to that of England. 37F to 46F range for this month (3C to 8C).
A card from, say, Chicago. The message: The Elevated Railway was destroyed in a series of fires.....
You don't need to that far away. What about Liverpool?
The available English Cheddars don't taste the same as the New Zealand Cheddars
Perhaps you should try regular American Cheddar. It don't taste. Although if you go for Extra Sharp it is approaching average English Cheddar.
I vote British Isles cheeses as best in the world. I've never felt the need of, or taste for, "foreign" cheese. Stilton, Farmhouse Cheddar, Caerphilly, Derbyshire etc. What more could anyone want?
Daylight Saving Time does not coincide with BST, and, of course, down-under has the equivalent during our winter. Perhaps then it would be better all round if that box remained unchecked.
Edit: However, I note that the forum is still timing my messages one hour later than the actual time of posting.
Yes, Pacific Time, west coast USA. GMT minus 8 hr.
That message timed at 11:24 am is listed on the forum as 12:24:49, so 1 hour later.
I've always found just one to be sufficient, and have never felt the need for more. However a country called Ukogbani, does sound quite exotic.
I seldom take any notice of the times of messages, only whether they are new. Your post shows as "Today 10:56:51" here. My current actual time is 11:24 am.
Ctrl+x, Ctrl+z?
Angle for something to have and eat.
A "first lady" has no official position, or title. She could be addressed in exactly the same manner as she had been before her husband was elected. However, Mrs Roosevelt was very widely admired and respected for her charitable work.
when the people of the panel shake hands with the visitors, the males stand, and the females remain seated.
Is that not normal etiquette?
Mrs Roosevelt, as a past "First Lady", was no doubt felt to demand greater respect.
there’s a classic fail in the autogenerated captions
A bit earlier it also says "I'm wandering" instead of "I'm wondering". That is perhaps excusable. The difference is sound is subtle. The former being pronounced as "wondering" and the latter as "wundering".
Why are own label versions cheaper?
No advertising costs.
As Joe points out, the manufacturer is likely to be the same for both products.
No
No.
I find both Gordon's and Paul's video most interesting. Albert's and Eric's too. Keep 'em coming, please.
Please say where that happened
West Croydon, and maybe a few other places. When I was still at school I had a Saturday job at a greengrocer's delivering orders by tradesman's bike https://onlinebicyclemuseum.co.uk/wp-co … DESMAN.jpg or costermonger's wheel barrow http://theragandboneman.blogspot.com/20 … arrow.html
A few customers, including a small childrens'-home phoned in their orders, although of course most customers did not have telephones then.
There is, as far as I aware, no restriction about the discussion only being related to people with very limited income.
Of course not, but this sub-topic followed my comments about people spending money they do not have, so do have limited incomes.
People placed grocery orders by phone long before computers were available.
We are discussing needs of people with very limited income. I do not know whether this includes William, or anyone else here, but somehow doubt it.
