So writers of fiction may well be about to join the long list of people whose careers have been disrupted by technological advances. Why should readers be overly concerned? It's quite probable the AI generated "novels" will satisfy their needs. [Of course, as you have commented earlier, nothing AI produces is truly novel.] I think it unlikely that AI could produce such innovative writing as Douglas Adams' Hitch-hiker's Guide, so maybe there will remain a demand for truly original thinking. Similarly, writers of non fiction - biographies, diaries, current affairs etc - don't have much to worry about (yet!). AI will never be able to create a book such as the one I am slowly reading at present - Who Will Tell My Story. Slowly, because it is too distressing to read more than a few pages at a sitting.
