Welcome, Mark. Thanks for joining us here.

I presume you’re trying to use PagePlus X9, which is version 19. PagePlus 9 without the ‘X’ was ten versions earlier and was released back in the days before product keys were needed.

If the program refuses to continue without a registration key, you can use the universal key 881887 to make the nag screen go away permanently.

My apologies! I think I misunderstood the issue.

I originally thought that the listed videos were uploaded to the hosting space and were no longer available at their original locations. I’ve now realized that the IDs on the list are YouTube IDs; for example, the first ID ‘Ben5Hayomd0’ refers to the YouTube video at https://youtu.be/Ben5Hayomd0 (which, at the time of writing, is available to view). This suggests that the links created by WebPlus are malformed in some way.

Is there a reason?

There’s always a reason for error messages! A ‘404 Not Found’ error means that the requested resource cannot be found at the specified location, suggesting that someone (you or someone at your hosting company) has renamed, moved or deleted the files in question.

I was expecting this site to generate an email notification when a reply was posted.

There’s a ‘Subscribe’ link next to the ‘RSS topic feed’ link on the blue bar near the top of the thread, and there are a couple of subscription settings in the ‘Settings’ section of your forum profile, but since it’s not a feature that I’ve ever really bothered with I’m not sure how well it all works!

Serif Web Resources is long gone, but if your web host supports PHP scripting (which most do) you should be able to add password protection fairly easily.

Option 2 on https://windowsreport.com/files-wont-delete-windows-11/ Worked a treat.

That’s great news, Stephen! Thanks for the update.

Interestingly I entered force delete files on windows 11 into Google.co.uk running on Chrome and neither of Alfred's results showed up.

That is indeed interesting. My preferred search engine is DuckDuckGo; I don’t use Chrome.

There may be a permissions issue which is preventing deletion of the file. Performing an Internet search for force delete files on windows 11 returned many results, including these two:

Whilst testing out other software (Ifranview and XNview) I started to encounter problems with one folder of photographs and managed to crash Ifranview.

Just as a point of information, the names are correctly styled as IrfanView (not “Ifranview”) and XnView. IrfanView is named after its creator, Irfan Škiljan, whose first name is pronounced “EAR-fan”.

With a suitably formatted line selected, choose ‘Update Object Default’ from the Format menu. To make the setting persist for new documents, Choose ‘Save Default Settings…’ from the Tools menu, tick the desired options in the dialog that pops up, and then press ‘Save’.

I’ve just been reminded of this customer review of a book on Amazon:

Good but not very accrete

I have tried to attach a copy of the file to this post, but it is apparently too large (4319x2833, 1.75MB)

I’m surprised that 1.75 MB is too large, but you could use a file-sharing service such as WeTransfer and then post the download link here. Alternatively, please feel free to send it directly to me as an email attachment and I’ll share it here myself.

By the way, you’re obviously using PhotoPlus but you’ve used the abbreviation PP which is widely understood to mean PagePlus. The traditional abbreviation for PhotoPlus X8 is PhPX8.

I just don't like google as a company who spy on everything you do, sell data and plague you with ads.

Me too neither! Whatever happened to “Don’t be evil”? Jon von Tetzchner (the co-founder and CEO of Vivaldi who also co-founded Opera) agrees with us.

My friends at Google: it is time to return to not being evil

Joe wrote:

When you say chromium browsers generally, are there others besides google?

Yes, there are. Chromium is free and open source, and its web page rendering code is also used by many other browsers (the main ones being Microsoft Edge, Opera, Vivaldi, and Brave).

A special thanks to Alfred, who ultimately ensured that I not only find a solution but has also provided me with a higher version than I had before.

You’re very welcome, Atati. I’m glad I was able to help.

On the contrary, you have already thanked me more than enough.

I won't use Chrome

I’m sure you and I aren’t the only ones, Joe! Do you feel the same way about Chromium browsers generally, or is it specifically to do with Chrome’s nasty habit of ‘phoning home’ at every opportunity?

@tati wrote:

I am hopeful someone will eventually assist.

I’ve just sent you an email which should set you on the right path.

I think the simplest solution would be to use two custom navbars, one with the first five top-level choices and the other with ‘Rainbow Canyon’ plus whatever follows.

As our mutual friend Marilyn would have been quick to point out if she had been participating in this discussion, AmE speakers generally understand “spelt” to refer (only) to an ancient form of wheat.

“Bonnet” in the context of cars is peculiarly British. When was the last time you heard someone refer to the inner workings of something as anything other than “under the hood”?

When did you last hear a Brit refer to the "hood" of their car???

Not recently, if ever! “Hood” is peculiarly un-British, and not only in the context of cars. As far as I’m aware, “hood” as an abbreviation for “hoodlum” is exclusively American.
