I hope they'll add this much-requested feature to the next release.

Thank you for clarifying.

I am not sure which of us you are disagreeing with, sorry.

If me, then I shall be using V3, primarily for DTP projects, but also some photo manipulation (although I have never made any secret of the fact that my primary photo editor is ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2026 because it includes DAM).

I do genuinely hope that Canva will keep its promises and prove those who mistrust them wrong.

Have you submitted feedback to this effect? I have.

On the mobile browser interface there is a hot link to the new posts list. Is it possible to switch this on in the desktop browser interface, too? Or is it already lurking somewhere? It's my preferred default view.

EDIT: Doh! I found it the second I posted ... Can't wait to get my new glasses from Specsavers!!!

I would hope he meant Q1, so by the end of March.

I haven't followed all your and others' posts and commentary, so I might have missed a thing or two. But you're being ironic here, right?

I think you probably had better read everything to understand why, because I am not going to explain why, but I was being sarcastic.

Pretty annoying that we have to wait +8 month for the iPad version of the new 3.0 of Affinity by Canva…

Ash said early next year, so where did you get 8+ months from?

Hmmm, I don't remember them telling me that when I coughed up for the three seperate apps...?

It hasn't been shared until now.

The important practical point here is that — just as DrawPlus X8 can open files saved from DrawPlus X5 and X6 — Affinity version 3 can open files saved from versions 1 and 2.

AND that there is no V3 to V2 backwards compatibility, just as there was none from V2 to V1.

Small but important pint:- affinity.studio is not Affinity V3

Well, it is, really. On the About screen in the app, the version number starts with a 3. In addition, Ash (in his video) clearly explained that it has been built using the same architecture as V1 and v2, as the intention was always to roll the three apps into one eventually.

But, of course, he could be lying (again).

@Bad_Wolf & @Hilltop

Thank you both.

My positivity has got me into a lot of hot water over the past few days, and not just here. I am glad to know that mine is not a lone voice!

Yes, that's already been flagged with Affinity.

There is no light option, but in the Start dialog in Windows search for Accent Colour, and try changing that to see if that helps.

Then, if you can in the app, go to Help > Send Feedback and ask for a change, as I and others have done.

Font size is dependent on your Windows settings - ask for that to be improved, as well.

Apologies for stepping out of my lane again, but on the About screen in the new Affinity app, it says Affinity with a version number below it and it starts with a 3.

Ash explained in the video on Thursday that this had been built on the same architecture as V1 and V2, and that this architecture was already set up in anticipation of a future merge of the apps, even back at the very start.

It reminded me of Dr Watson ... It's a brilliant touch, though - smacks of the old Serif you and I know.

From the horse's mouth on Discord just now (I had congratulated him on his immortalisation):

Thanks Ali! The Ask panel was a bit of an in-joke: when we launched V2 and I did a "What's New" video for Affinity Photo, there was a huge thread on DPReview claiming I was actually an AI creation, something to do with the irregular cadence of my voice and jerky head movements...

So I suggest you relax and learn rather than rigidly sticking to opinion as though it is fact.

Nice colour grading there - lovely effect.

Our different viewpoints will be down to many things. Having been a teacher does not make me any less able to assess situations and draw reasonable conclusions than you.

I completely accept that you have more experience in this industry than I do. Of course your viewpoint will be affected by what you have experienced: one might say that it has made you cynical. I had to steer a department through very dark times that included two rounds of redundancies that were none of our fault, so I have experience of business (yes, schools are businesses, too), albeit in an educational environment. But I am resilient, and that's because I refuse to give in. I will always do my utmost to stay positive, even in extremis, and it's served me well in life.

I respect your opinion, but I don't share it. Whether you are right or I am, or neither of us is, only time will tell. If you choose not to respect my opinion, that's something only you can decide. But you won't change my mind any more than I'll change yours (not that I am trying to, by the way).

Serif (which was acquired by Canva) still exists (albeit under the Canva umbrella) and its HQ is still in Nottingham. Affinity is the software that Serif continue to develop, but now for Canva.

There are still people at Serif with whom I worked on the Plus range betas: they and their team deserve a pat on the back and will continue to get my support.

... CreoFora ...

Thanks for mentioning this new forum Ali! Looks like the domain was registered 1 Oct 2025 - when did Serif post notice of its forum's eminent closure?

About a week before its closure on 02 (?) October. I received a PM on the old forums on 01 October with a link to CreoFora. I still don't know exactly who is behind it.

To end on a good note:
We’re all here because we love creating. You don’t have to like every update, but let’s stay curious, keep testing, and help each other find what works. The tools will keep changing — our creativity doesn’t have to.

Hear, hear!

Now can we reset and start again an adult level?

No reset required - once again, our opinions differ. My frustration with some of the negative voices (NOT the rational ones!) is perfectly valid, even if you don't share that frustration. My comment was not aimed at you or anyone here: you, however, chose to make it personal, which is a shame.

Now, let's move on.
