Thanks for the link, Albert. I’ve never heard a version of the “Rondo alla Turca” sounding quite like that, but it works very well.

Thank you Albert.

The four ladies at the left each play an instrument different from the others of them.

Are the instruments of the three ladies at the right each the same?

More music from bamboo here (including a reprise of the Turkish March):

I am puzzled by the fiddler. What has he got in his mouth and what does it do?

I’m glad I’m not the only one to wonder about that, Geoff!

Re: Links to music videos

It clearly has a finger board, but also seems to have another string with a free end held in his mouth. He also has a microphone by his mouth.

I think the long bamboo tube would not make a sufficient sounding board, and its efficiency as a resonator would be influenced by the greenery mounted on, or part of it.

Very interesting.

Re: Links to music videos

The string in his mouth appears to be attached to the main bamboo pole just below the bow. It is not clear how he holds the string in his mouth. Hooked on a tooth, apparently - see around 5.40. He takes it out at the end (7.13). The instant that he puts it in his mouth is not shown. It is at 1.06. Earlier the string is held in the hand holding the bow, but at 1.07 he begins playing, and the string is already in his mouth.
