Re: Cats, cats, and more cats!

As soon as I can figure out how to post photos from my PC I certainly shall.

In the meantime, here is a bit of video of our now only cat (we lost Milady Hecate in July last year, after sharing 17 years, 5 weeks and 2 days together). Since the first few days of having him, he has picked up and carried around rattle balls, and more recently softie toys like HH (Double H as in HedgeHog) and CT (Catnip Ted). He will play Fetch, so we think at times he may believe he is a dog.  https://punster.me/images/laugh.gif

We tend to keep Binx as an indoor cat, so HH and CT get played with quite a lot, often flying past our noses, and when they go missing can usually be found in that usual repository of cats' toys - under the sofa. At least there is absolutely no chance of another episode of a live mouse up Hubby's trouser leg, as happened quite a few years ago courtesy of Milady Hecate, the Great Huntress.  https://punster.me/images/biggrin.gif

Thank you, Alfred. That works great!  https://punster.me/images/flowers.gif

Here is Binx, kneading away on the fleecy blanket covering the sofa.

Not sure why so many people don’t like black cats. Binx is the third black cat we have had over the last 3 decades or so, and all three of them have been right little characters. Mind, Binx is the only one of our seven cats (to date) to have ended up down the toilet, not once, not twice, but three times in his first twelve months. He is probably the most characterful cat we have served, just pipping Milady Hecate.   https://punster.me/images/laugh.gif

Re: Cats, cats, and more cats!

Black cats are considered unlucky in the US.  Except for the ginger female that spends half her time at my house currently, all the cats I've had, both here and in England, have been black, although several have had white noses, bibs and/or feet.

Black cats are considered unlucky over all of mainland Europe, with the exception of Normandy.

SUPERSTITIOUS? – Good luck with that

Unfortunately, black cats are are hard to rehome, the rescue organisations tell us.

So I gather. However, as I follow a Pagan path and before retirement was a Medical Herbalist (and having my very own besom and cast iron cauldron, in days of yore I would probably have been considered the village wise-woman, AKA witch  https://punster.me/images/stirthepot.gif  https://punster.me/images/laugh.gif),  I suppose I'm naturally drawn to having a black cat. Our last black cat, Pyewacket (he came with that name and I was happy to stick with it) was the son of a healer's cat, so very appropriate that he joined our household.

Cats Protection told us the same, Jack.  https://punster.me/images/sad.gif One of the reasons, they surmised was that in these days of Social Media it appears that black cats have another 'black' mark against them insofar that they are perceived not to be photogenic. I've never had that problem with our black cats, and even so, it seems a very stupid reason to not like them.

One of my favourite photos of Binx. It's obvious he is one of the 'tabby in disguise' variant, whereas as Tasha and Pyewacket were both solid black.

Regardless of colour, it's often a case of spot the black cat as he loves to curl up in the curtain, or settle down as a hump underneath the sofa/chair covers.  https://punster.me/images/biggrin.gif

Perceived by whom, Karen? Binx certainly doesn’t fall into that category as far as I’m concerned, nor either of your other two.

Precisely, Alfred. I have loads of photos of our black kitties, and they are just as good as the ones of our lovely little Torties and Calico cats. Just a myth, really, and people who can't be bothered to find the right pose/light before snapping a photo to put up online.

To be quite honest, my view is that if people are only interested in the looks of their pets, then the pets are better off without them.  https://punster.me/images/whistling.gif

LOL. Nice one, Karen!

To be honest, in our household it’s not Binx’s fur that’s the problem. We need a vacuum that can deal with long Karen hair rather than Binxy fur.  https://punster.me/images/whistling.gif

And those are lovely photos of cats you posted previously, especially the James Bond kitty. He is gorgeous!  https://punster.me/images/myopera/myg/heart.gif

I suspected you might like that one! (You can see why they thought of putting a collar and bow tie on him.)
