Tommy in a "I'm not happy about you taking this photo" mood.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.

Re: Cats, cats, and more cats!

Tommy looks very impressive and serious - a right handsome cat. https://punster.me/images/myopera/myg/heart.gif

"I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
"Cats," he said eventually. "Cats are nice."

Re: Cats, cats, and more cats!

I was inspired by a recent post in another thread to download Jarte plus.

I looked up my jarte files from another installation, and found this poem. It's called

SOLILOQUY by Shakespeare's cat
and is by Henry Beard, and published on line  https://monologues.co.uk/Shakespeare/Hamlets_Cat.htm

HAMLETS CAT by SHAKESPAW

To go outside, and there perchance to stay
Or to remain within: that is the question:
Whether 'tis better for a cat to suffer
The cuffs and buffets of inclement weather
That Nature rains upon those who roam abroad,
Or take a nap upon a scrap of carpet,
And so by dozing melt the solid hours
That clog the clock's bright gears with sullen time
And stall the dinner bell.
To sit, to stare Outdoors, and by a stare to seem to state
A wish to venture forth without delay,
Then when the portal's opened up, to stand
As if transfixed by doubt.
To prowl; to sleep;
To choose not knowing when we may once more
Our readmittance gain: aye, there's the hairball;
For if a paw were shaped to turn a knob,
Or work a lock or slip a window-catch,
And going out and coming in were made
As simple as the breaking of a bowl,
What cat would bear the household's petty plagues,
The cook's well-practiced kicks, the butler's broom,
The infant's careless pokes, the tickled ears,
The trampled tail, and all the daily shocks
That fur is heir to, when, of his own free will,
He might his exodus or entrance make
With a mere mitten?
Who would spaniels fear,
Or strays trespassing from a neighbor's yard,
But that the dread of our unheeded cries
And scratches at a barricaded door
No claw can open up, dispels our nerve
And makes us rather bear our humans' faults
Than run away to unguessed miseries?
Thus caution doth make house cats of us all;
And thus the bristling hair of resolution
Is softened up with the pale brush of thought,
And since our choices hinge on weighty things,
We pause upon the threshold of decision.

I thought I recalled your being a long-standing Jarte user, Jack, and I wondered whether you had upgraded to Jarte Plus. Now I know!

Re: Cats, cats, and more cats!

I don't remember if a forum post has linked this video before, but I just downloaded it. It's nearly an hour long, and it is about a study of cats fitted with location devices and cameras.

It takes place in Wiemar (not sure of the spelling) in Germany where the cats outnumber the human population (the town is known as the cat capital of Germany).

Quick German spelling/pronunciation tip: the vowel sequences EI and IE are pronounced like the English name of the second letter, so “mein” sounds like “mine” and “die” rhymes with “see”. It follows that the correct spelling is Weimar ('vie-mar) rather than Wiemar ('vee-mar).

Re: Cats, cats, and more cats!

Binx is often seen like this, too. Ever since kittenhood he has liked to be under cover, or wrapped in the curtain.
