Topic: Creating a 'Description' of the web page

I am dissatisfied with the heading Google Search has given one of my pages. It seems this is generated automatically from the page contents by a complex algorithm. It consists of a 'Title' and a 'Snippet', you can turn off snippet creation with <meta name="robots" content="nosnippet">.

The 'Title' box in Webplus Page Properties sure enough inserts html <title>Your title</title> into the header.

I was hoping that the 'Description' box in Webplus Page Properties would insert the html <meta name="description" content="Your page description"> into the header. Instead it apparently does nothing?

Am I missing something (no pun intended)?

Re: Creating a 'Description' of the web page

If you make any changes under ‘Page Properties’ in WebPlus, those changes should stick when you save your project file and they should appear in the HTML when you publish the site. If you’re saying that a Google search doesn’t show the updated information, that’s to be expected until such time as Google has recrawled the site.

Re: Creating a 'Description' of the web page

Thanks - that is not quite what I am saying. If you fill in the Webplus Page Properties ‘Description’ box and then publish the page, I don’t think the text you filled appears anywhere in the html. Consequently it is not available to Google Search. Try it and see.

Re: Creating a 'Description' of the web page

Thanks for the clarification. I’m not in a position to try it for myself right now, but I’m happy to take your word for it!
