Re: Post your videos here

Some very nice pictures there Gordon, I particularly liked the bluebells and wild garlic together towards the end of the show, they make a wonderful combo, reminded me of the ones at Emmetts garden in Kent a few years ago.

I presume that was meant to say “surrounding” and “2022”. A lovely little video, nevertheless.

Talking of wild garlic, this does show that you can eat it as my wife shows, although I would wash it first !!!!

Thanks Gordon.  The Europe situation also has me very unsettled at present.

Re: Post your videos here

Me too Eric.
It does not seem to bother the main opposition parties in Westminster though. They are more preoccupied with attempting to oust our Prime Minister from office for his part in the so called "partygate"  scandal.

Rather than trying to get rid of psycho President Putin and bringing an end to the atrocities in Ukraine, they must think it's far more important to have a change of leadership in Britain for the PM's heinous crimes of enjoying his birthday cake and maybe a shandy or two. How can you even begin to compare the two crimes. Putin is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths and Boris is responsible for spilling a few crumbs of birthday cake down his front - shocking...

Re: Post your videos here

You have missed the point, but perhaps you could make a movie about it. Preferably non-political, at least in this thread.

Re: Post your videos here

Hmmm, Perhaps I'll start working on Dr Strangelove 2 next week !

Re: Post your videos here

At last we have managed to visit Hole Park, as recommended to me by Gordon. I have to say that we were both very impressed with it and spent quite a few hours wandering round, taking pictures and video. Thank you so much Gordon, we would never have heard about it, not being on our radar, so to speak. https://youtu.be/dApuxDa6a7w The bluebells and wild garlic were spectacular. Hope you enjoy my efforts.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Albert.  Yes Kent is often described as the Garden of England.

Very much. Thanks for posting.

A minor oddity: when I first watched it early today the default thumbnail image (displayed before I pressed ‘Play’) was missing, but it’s there now.

I thought it would be "up your street! well done. We are in Spain at the moment and I have "double trouble" as I managed to bring two women with me !

Re: Post your videos here

Short video from a recent retirement village trip to Ambury Park.  No bluebells, it's a very different park.  Title "Animal Afternoon" https://vimeo.com/704061421

Re: Post your videos here

Definitely different, Eric! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks for posting Eric.
So much easier videoing trees and bluebells etc, they tend to be rooted to the spot, on the other hand those pigs didn't move that much either did they!
Hoping for another fun day out tomorrow weather permitting. According to the website, they also have livestock around, so it should be interesting...

Re: Post your videos here

Our aforementioned 'fun day out' took place last Friday. We made another first time visit, this time to West Sussex, a place called Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens.
It was one of the most colourful  places we have ever been to. As you go through the entrance a wall of colour hits you hard and you start to think if my newly formatted 64Gb card will be enough to capture the sheer magnificence of the place!!
There were a lot of sculptures around which young William may find interesting, and I have tried to give a bit of information about some of them in the video.
We also watched the wallabies hopping around - who would have thought that you could see wallabies in an English garden, well, not me anyway!! The video is just shy of 12 minutes long. https://youtu.be/pdUinn015RQ
I include a picture of the guide to the "sculpture Park", for more information.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Albert, very colourful.

Wallabies were introduced here over 100 years ago and are now considered a pest.  I hope the ones you saw are confined to the garden.

Re: Post your videos here

Eric, John messaged you in another Forum about your comment and his new smartphone as he could not find your comment on that forum.  Did you receive it ok?  Cheers Vicki

Re: Post your videos here

Yes thanks Vicki I did receive it.  A bit behind with my responses at present.

Update: Vicki, I've now replied to John.

Re: Post your videos here

Wow Albert, Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens. We went there with some old friends 30 odd years ago that unfortunately are no longer with us. I was amazed at the time of the very colourful Rhododendron bushes that are still to he fore on your video that have shown up well.
The place has changed out of all proportion over the years and I don't remember it being called Leonardslee "Lakes and Gardens" but just Leonardslee Gardens at the time ? and it certainly didn't have any wallabies back then !.
I enjoyed that video and when we are back from Spain I might just give the place another look so it's a well done from me.

Re: Post your videos here

It's the first time we had been Gordon, I can't even remember where I had heard about it, I think it may have been a video on You Tube but I cannot be sure. Glad you and Eric enjoyed it, I wonder what it's like other times of the year. I know we didn't see it all, for example, we didn't see the deer park or the rockery garden.  Well worth a return visit.

Re: Post your videos here

Well instead of putting on a slow calming video for us OAPs I do actually film a lot of music groups down here in Spain. This is one I shot on Saturday night in Bedar a village about 10 miles inland from our place and it is just a normal occurrence as the Spanish love any excuse to be loud and have a drink and a dance
The bass player is the only English member and asked me if I could make a quick video for them.
See how long you can put up with it !

Re: Post your videos here

That was brilliant Gordon, I could have "put up with it" for another hour at least, in fact I feel a little short changed!!

The locals appear to be having a great time, and they were not all teenagers either, the average age must have been around 40 years or so?

I liked the way you managed to go between the band and the dancers so very smoothly without a 'jerk or a wobble', you either have very steady hands or you had a bit of help with the equipment you were using.

As Richard Osman would say, "very nicely done".

Thank you very much, yes all ages down here like a good time and a decent group but obviously music is subjective to us all, also some are very good and some are (lets say) "not so good" !!, however most of the groups in our area are made up of older musicians that have been playing since schooldays and improved with age that suits the retirees including us. In fact a lot of the groups have members that in their youth played with named bands from the 60s/70s and can still do the business in their retirement as when they moved over here they brought there old gear with them. There is a mixture of nationalities that play together but mainly Spanish/English and the band in the film are all Spanish apart from the bass player who is English. The singer can sing opera as you can tell by his voice and he makes a good job as he is not singing in his native tongue.
I do have a very steady hands that I am thankful for however I was using my Sony FDR AX53 on that occasion filming in XAVC S HD and rendered it in a widescreen format. Although it's a heavier camcorder than my Panasonics and isn't quite as fully adjustable I have learnt to "drive it" better since I bought it. Incidentally I filmed this at 9pm and there wasn't that much ambient light in the venue and no other lighting switched on as the main group that was playing afterwards on the stage above and behind them had all the lights set up for them ! so most of the time the lens was at F3.4 as I wanted to use a high frame rate as I was moving about. I also recorded the audio from a separate recorder to keep the sound the same throughout and synced it afterwards in post.
On Sunday night I will try and film another group in a crowded bar on the beach opposite our abode that has a singer who is English who also can also sing opera, however it might be a bit of a struggle to make a decent video as it does get crowded so I will see what I can do !
