When is this forum's Christmas party to take place please?

It hadn’t occurred to me that anyone here might want such a thing! What form should it take? Who’s going to supply and distribute the food and drink?

Well, those who are interested could agree a day and time when we would all try to be online and actively posting in a new thread generated especially for the party.

So the thread could get lots of posts during the time that the party is running.

We could plan the party in this thread. For, er ... practical reasons, people would each need to supply their own food and drink.

Though suggestions on what that could be could be discussed in this planning thread.

One or more Serif products could be used to produce some invitations and uploaded to this thread.

There could be music and videos. Maybe people here who make videos would like to post a video they have made during the party.

We could try to devise some sort of rule that if a video is posted then no other video is posted by anyone until the posted video run time plus 2 minutes has passed. Together with a rule of maximum runtime for a posted video.

That way, the party would be real time as people could put the video on, even if just in the background while other posts are being made and read. So like a party in real time.

Some people could post jokes.

I think that if people want to make it work then it can work and people enjoy themselves.

A time of day that suits everyone could be rather tricky! You and I are in the UK, Geoff is in Washington, Eric is in Aotearoa, etc.

Re: When is this forum's Christmas party to take place please?

If 11 pm to 7 am local time is regarded as out for everybody, can a time slot be found that is not in that local time period for anybody?

That constraint would mean that the party would not start until after 3 pm UK time so that for Geoff the start would be after 7 am Pacific Time.

So what would 11 pm to 7 am Aotearoa time be in UK time?

Would an evening party from 8 pm to 11 pm UK time work for everybody?

At the time of writing, it’s shortly after 6pm on Friday in the UK and 7am on Saturday in Eric’s neck of the woods.

So an 8pm UK time start would seem an inclusive possibility for known forum participants at present as far as I aware. Is that correct?

I suppose so. 20:00 GMT is 12:00 on the Pacific coast of Canada and the US, and 09:00 in most of NZ (but only 06:00 in Brisbane).

So is there enthusiasm for having this party from 8 pm UK time one evening?

Would you want to attend? Either to actively participate or maybe just to enjoy watching.

If so, which evenings would suit or not suit you?

No matter what time or place (after all, I am in The Colonies), I will pass on any suggestion of eggnog.  I cannot abide the stuff.

Regardless, I wish all here an absolutely marvelous holiday period filled with joy.  Peace.

Be thee here Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or whatever...  I invite you all to enjoy a magnificent piece of music presented by a magnificent voice.  I also invite you all to grasp the meaning... for it involves us all.

Peace.  Have a wonderful holiday period however you choose to celebrate it.

Thanks Robert.  Sadly the world is a mess at present.
