Topic: Ftp error message in x6

Hello,

I've been back and forth for a solid 2 weeks with my host company and 50+ emails back and forth trying to get my website updated.  I was switched from a plesk server to a cPanel as an upgraded sever. I was told that was what my issue was in updating my site, that the server was outdated.  So we upgraded.  I have the new "credentials" for the cPanel but still the same error message "An error occurred whilst trying to get the working directory from the FTP server ".  They checked my IP address, no issues there, the host says things are working on their end. Is this a software issue, a host issue, a server issue? And how can I solve this so that I can update my site? Thank you to anyone that has any advice for me.

Welcome, Peggy, and thanks for joining us here!

What folder have you specified in the Account Details dialog within WebPlus? As far as I’m aware, cPanel uses ‘public_html’ as the base folder for content to be viewed on the Internet, but your hosting server may be configured to include that detail automatically (so if you specify ‘public_html’ instead of ‘/’ you’ll find that your uploads go to ‘public_html/public_html’, which clearly won’t work as expected).

Do you know whether you’re trying to connect over FTP, FTPS, or SFTP?

Here is the error message I keep getting.  I'm still trying to get my site updated. Still trying to figure it out.

The host company had me add a line in the hosts file in windows when they were changing the site over to the cPanel. They had me check my site after I cleared my browser cache.  Should I go back and delete that? Could that be my issue?
