Topic: PPX9 Embed Video Clip for PDF playback

I do a monthly PPX9/PDF newsletter for my club and they have now requested that I have video media clips embedded within the neswletter for our readers to play back in PDF.

I have set it up as the dialog box below. The video plays fine in PDF but does not have any controls - even though I set it up to have controls showing? So, all the reader can do is watch the video in one sitting and can't start>stop>pause, etc. Also there was no floating window when playing back in PDF? I selected: Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5)

No-one has come back on this, so may be it's not possible to embed a video link in PPX9 to playback with all controls in a PDF?
Which is strange if the dialog box is there in PPX9 giving the impression that it should work?
So, I am left wondering if the problem is in PPX9 - or in PDF?

I'm sorry, Sandy, but I'm afraid I can't even persuade PPX9 to play an embedded video in a PDF file at all, never mind including a control console! Perhaps someone else here will be better placed to help you.

A few minutes ago I managed to get an old AVI file working, but not MP4 files?
I set it up with Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4) - got the start/stop/pause Control Panel and Floating Window, etc. in pdf playback - oh, and just remembered publishing to PDF does not work - it had to be published as PDF Slideshow.
But sadly I can't get modern MP4's to play at all, yet...

Here is what I got using an old AVI media file - it worked in PPX9/PDF...

I have spent some weeks on this, trying all different formats, but to no avail except minor success with an old AVI file. Below will be seen the HELP on PPX9, where so many video formats 'should' work, but don't.
I then looked up Affinity Publisher to see if I should take that route to get videos into my club newsletters - but NO, as a question was raised about this process to Serif, back in 2021 - where you will see below a Staff Member stated categorically that this was not a feature in Affinity Publisher. I think Serif has missed the boat on this one...
