Now that summer has arrived, we felt it necessary to return to our local RHS property, yes you've guessed it, the wonderful Hyde Hall - Roses and Foxgloves were there in abundance, please do enjoy, https://youtu.be/CwVC0ywa34E

Nice video Albert, lets face it with all the wet weather and a few days of sun everything has gone mad. The only problem is so has the weeds !!!
We are in warmer weather in Spain from tomorrow until mid July so feel sorry for us !! I'll try and find something interesting to film for you boys to watch.
Another RHS visit, this time we went to Cambridgeshire for the Wimpole estate. Just a short one this time, less than six minutes.

I imagine you could have filmed for more than an hour and still not covered everything in a place like that. It must have been quite difficult to whittle it down to under six minutes, but you did a great job (as usual). Thanks for sharing!

Great shot. Presumably a regular visitor who has got to trust his "hosts".

Thanks Albert. Summer is still months away for us.

Thanks Albert. I wonder how many gardeners they employ to keep it tidy. The same goes for all the RHS places.

That video invoked similar musings here.

I had a bit of a Google about this subject, the nearest I got to the answer is this. "The garden at Wisley is the largest of the RHS Gardens. The gardening team varies from 150 to 200 gardeners depending on the time of the year, and includes trainee gardeners who spend up to two years studying and working at Wisley.
So as far as Wimpole Estate or Hyde Hall is concerned it must be lower than the figures given, but by how much is anybodies guess.
In other words, many tens of man hours — even for the smaller gardens.

"Man hours". Shouldn't we say "people hours" as I've seen lady gardeners in Albert's videos.

Very possibly, Eric, but it sounds a bit too much like ‘political correctness’ gone mad!

I don't consider politics have anything to do with it. It's showing acknowledgement and respect to the fair sex. It's not many years ago that a wife was considered her husbands property and not allowed to vote. If women ruled the world it might not be in the mess it's in at the present.
But then I'm biased as I only have daughters.

That statement seems somewhat at odds with the first sentence of your post! In any case, there are many examples of women who, if not exactly ruling, have played a major part in running the show. They haven’t always been universally admired, of course: think of Jacinda Ardern relatively recently and Margaret Thatcher a long time ago, not to mention Liz Truss and her disastrous few weeks as Prime Minister of the UK.
Anyway, I deliberately put ‘politically correct’ in quotation marks to highlight the fact that it’s a hackneyed phrase which has little to do with either politics or correctness. I’m afraid I’m quite old-fashioned when it comes to words and phrases like ‘mankind’ and ‘man hours’: I still believe ‘the male embraces the female, grammatically speaking’, and I don’t feel at all inclined to start talking about ‘personhole covers’ or being ‘personhandled’.
I’m reminded of a woman I heard about many years ago. She worked as an organ voicer, so she came to be known locally as ‘the lady organ man’.
Agreed Alfred. I don't think the language needs personipulating to accommodate what's known as political correctness.

I have run in to a problem with Movieplus x6. Suddenly two video tracks have gone into "mute" and I can't "unmute" them ! both audio tracks work ok. If I save it and try another video that I am also in the middle of it works fine. I have tried the old trick of using control to reset it when starting x6 but it is still the same.
It wouldn't be so bad if I had only just started the video as I could just start again, but I am about half way through with lots of cuts between 2 video timelines and 3 audio.
Has anyone had this happen before ? I have used x6 for years and used up to 4 video tracks at a time and never had a problem.
I forgot to say that if I bring in more media it still acts the same as if it's muted even if I put it in another video timeline above.
Gordon - You've possibly Solo'd another track, resulting in others "muted". With MVP it's not visible but right click on each track to check.

Thanks for coming back, but out of the 5 none are showing solo.
OK it's probably going to be one of those "glitches" that happen once in a blue moon that I will never get to the bottom of.
Normally if I am making one of these types of videos with loads of tracks and transitions I do make a copy every now and then, however
this time I didn't. Lesson learned ! Start again !!!!!
Gordon - Presumably you've tried a "Factory Reset"? Holding down Ctrl on starting and ticking the box to clear the cache. It often sorts out strange problems.
Sheffield Park in the summer was beautiful and it made a change from visiting it at Autumn time.

We had a bit of a shock when we learnt that one of the giant redwoods had been struck by lightning back in 2022. It was so sad to see the result. I included some footage of it before the strike, with children clambering all over it having fun. It was the only tree in the park where children were encouraged to climb.
Hope you enjoy the video - just seven and a half minutes long.

Yes I even mentioned it in my first post.
Incidentally the other day I had to do another promo video for a band, and when I went to sort my my gear out at the venue I didn't have my detachable tripod camera mount !!!! Anyhow I do have a couple of those "SmallRig" Super Clamp Mounts with 1/4" Screw Ball Heads that have got me out of all sorts of problems in the past, and I simply fitted one to the outside of the part where the detachable part fits.
Since then I have searched the place out to no avail and I presume that I lost it between taking the tripod out of the car and walking into the venue.
Luckily I do have a spare tripod down here so it's no problem.

Thanks Albert. Some nice close-ups. Some of the trees seemed to still have their autumn colours. As for the poor redwood, it shows the force of nature.
Quiet here ... so I'll drop a video from last summer. We met Brian Hawley on the Queen Elizabeth cruising Alaska last summer. He was an interesting collector and lecturer on Ocean Liner memorabilia and history. I did an interview that turned into this piece.
Brian Hawley .. 4 min.
