Topic: Windows 11
By now there are a few Win 11 users. Any here who can give their experience with Serif Plus products and this new OS. I'm particularly interested in:
Movie Plus X6
Page Plus X8
Photo Plus X5

Hmm I'm a bit reluctant to give it a try, I don't think that my laptops can use it after giving it a test.
I have two Asus computers that are both the same and I normally use the one that I put an SSD hardrive in for video.
Mainstream support for Windows 10 continued until Oct. 13, 2020, and extended support ends on Oct. 14, 2025. But both levels could well go beyond those dates, since previous OS versions have had their support end dates moved forward after service packs, so I think I'll give it a miss for a couple of years.
Problem is new, off the shelf PCs, will have Win11.
My husband is having a new bespoke PC built and has specified win10 to be installed as he knows that a couple of programs he uses are not W11 compliant. When it arrives he will upgrade his laptop toWin11 and see how it goes with our Serif programs. We know several of our friends that are still using Serif programs on XP after all this time. A lot of off the shelf PC's in places like PC world are still selling Win10 on PC's. But as Eric says its only a matter of time.
My really old laptop that I use in my workshop for vehicle problems for customers is still running on Windows XP, I never go on the internet with it and update any new programs with a flash drive.
I still use XP on an old laptop. Like you, I don't use it for the internet, but I still use a few Qbasic programs that will not work on newer versions on Windows - unless anyone knows how!
Geoff
It's Win 11 that I am interested in not XP. Forward compatibility, not backward.

Thanks Vicki. I look forward to John's experience in due course.

You can sometimes run a lot of old programs, if you dig deep into the installer there is a provision to run them from earlier versions of windows. I have managed to put one on to Win 10 that is 15 years old, however it's very hit and miss regarding 32 and 64 bit.
I only run my old laptop for one program in the workshop for diagnostics that I have to update as and when new models of cars are built, as it's a very substantial metal one that has had lots of abuse, like falling off the roof of a car a few times I am loath to buy a new all plastic one !

Patrick has said that all Serif legacy applications that worked on Windows 10 seem to function correctly/identically on Windows 11 also. https://community.serif.com/forum/custo … swer385550
That's very good GB.
I'll probably go over to windows 11, a week before windows 12 comes out.

Likewise, looks like we have another 3 years !

Waiting with baited breath Vicki.
Is it too early to ask if your husband's laptop has been upgraded yet and if so do the legacy Serif programs still work?
Steve.
I have Win 11 on a HP laptop and PagePlusx9 works fine. Two things tho', it'll ask you to register every time you open it. LOL. And, If you try to copy Serif documents from your old computer to the new one you end up leaving all your source documents behind - like images, fonts, etc. (You can find that list of "properties" when you have the document open in Serif if you want to try and find all of them to copy and transfer to the new computer. Open the Tools menu and review your Managers.) Otherwise, the program itself seems to work just fine. I haven't tried the other Serif programs yet.
Cliff - for registration use the Universal code "881887". Then you shouldn't be pestered with the registration screen.

Use ‘Save As Package’ on your old computer to include all (unprotected) fonts, images, and other resources.
