Topic: Picture displays in two places

WebPlus X8

I added a picture (object 1103) to my blog post 139 in upper left corner {object screen shot}

Later I discovered the same picture in the right text box panel. But it only displays in the browser, not in WebPlus. {pic 1102 in wrong place}

In the html list I think the second image is labeled "pic-1102" instead of "pic-1103".  {html pic-1102-and-1103}

I can't select & delete the second image, and clicking "hidden" has no effect. In the browser the pic displaces some of the text, but not in WebPlus.

I have no idea how the second image was created. Apparently a dumb mistake of some kind.

Question : How can I delete the second copy of the image?

Re: Picture displays in two places

In design view if you drag the text box off the page is the image on the page? If you then preview the page, is the image there?

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.

Re: Picture displays in two places

Thanks for the reply.

The second image is not visible in the normal design view. It only displays when previewed in the browser. So I can't select it or drag it, or delete it.

I'm guessing that I can only delete it in the html view. But I'm not a coder, so without specific instructions, I could screw it up even worse.

If I don't get such instructions, I will delete the  {pic 1102} line, and see what happens.

Re: Picture displays in two places

Is the errant image on your master page?

No. The second copy of the picture does not display on master or current page. Only when I preview in the browser.

I think it's a redundant line in the HTML source code. I could select and delete that line. But since I'm not familiar with HTML editing, I might screw something else up.

Can you give a link to your website?

I haven't uploaded it yet. I'm waiting until I fix the double picture problem. My first post has a screenshot of the Blog page, and of the HTML page.

If the image only displays in the browser then it may be that the image is in the browser cache.  Try clearing the browsers cache or use a different browser.

Re: Picture displays in two places

Comming back to my first post above. You say it's displacing some of the text. Drag the frame containing the text off the page and preview. The text and image should be missing. If so, create a new text frame on the site but dont copy/paste the text from the original frame.

Thanks. I tried that, but the image does not display in WebPlus view, only in the browser preview.

The second image seems to be anchored to the text in the notes column. But it's invisible, except in the browser. Do you know how to find an anchored image? I only see the original image in the Objects list. When I click the Anchor tool, it only shows the original image, which is the one selected.

The original image is "pic 1103" in HTML, and below it is "pic 1102", which I'm guessing is the mystery image. I selected and tried to delete the HTML lines for "pic 1102", but nothing happened. Do you know how to edit or delete certain lines in HTML? I thought it was WYSIWYG.

In the WebPlus view, I deleted the original image, and it's gone in the HTML view, but the second image lines remain. And the lines for "pic 1102" are connected to the lines for the Notes text. If I could just delete the image lines, that should resolve the problem.

We are not getting anywhere. We need to see either a website or a copy of your webplus file. If you publish the file to disc and zip the folde, see if you can attach it to your next post.  If not you could email it to me

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.

Joe : Thanks for the response. But I have already fixed the "invisible duplicate image" problem without editing the HTML.

I'm still puzzled by the inability to "cut, copy, paste" in the HTML window. Is that normal? Can it be changed?

If your web hosting service gives you cPanel, you can easily edit the html but this is not recommended unless you are very expert.
As you've noticed WebPlus has limited html editing.
