Topic: MVPX6 and Windows 11

My apologies for asking questions that have been covered in other posts but I am not finding a solution.

I have installed MVPX6 on a new laptop running Windows 11 and I have imported the unlock codes for the codecs. For some reason, two of the codecs are not unlocking. (I have checked the registry and everything seems correct.)  MVP is still running fine on the old W10 laptop with all necessary codecs unlocked. Unfortunately I cannot use .mts files from a Sony camcorder on the new machine.

Any ideas please?

Re: MVPX6 and Windows 11

Supplementary info -

I have two copies of MVPX6, one that I bought for my use and one that I bought for my late brother. I don't know which one I have installed on my new laptop. I used my licence key but it is possible that I have my brother's installation on my W10 machine. Would this make a difference - i.e. are the unlock keys for the codecs linked to the licence in some way?

Re: MVPX6 and Windows 11

Yes the unlock codes are linked to your product key.

If your laptop has a new fresh install of Windows 11 Build 24H2 it could be another problem caused by Windows which affects mts files.  This MS page refers https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/win … 888138e456

But I wouldn't have thought MPX6 would be affected as to my knowledge it uses the Dolby AC3 codec from Dolby and not the Windows version which, in recent years, many video editors have been using due to unhappiness over Dolby's licensing requirements.

Re: MVPX6 and Windows 11

Many thanks for your reply.

The missing codecs are referenced as '10' and '23', one of which I think is the H.264 that I need for editing the .mts files. I checked the registry and all the entries are there. I had extracted the data from both installations of MPX6 and they are identical. Laptop update to 24H2 is pending so I might delay that for a day or two.

Anyway, I have done a complete uninstall of MPX6 using Revo Pro and I'll try again later.

EDIT: 24H2 update is installed.

Re: MVPX6 and Windows 11

Problem solved!

Re-installed MVPX6 using my second product key - codec unlock codes imported.

MVPX6 is still my go-to software for video editing. I have bought other programs over the years but I always find them to be over complicated.

Next task is to install WebPlus.

@ericnlz - thanks for your help.

I am the same and have installed MVPX6 many times over the years on different computers with no problems, however I still have the original installation disc and keep the unlock codes on a flash drive.  I too have tried various other video editing systems but I still use X6 for all of my "GStree" YouTube videos.  I even edit 4k on X6 in small amounts and then render it in 2.7k. It was and is still one of the easiest/best video editing systems that has been made, and I am sure if they or someone updated it there would be plenty of sales.

Re: MVPX6 and Windows 11

One or two problems running under Windows 11. A couple of, as yet unexplained, crashes even though I have set compatibility mode to W7.

I'll try and track down the issues and I may be back for help!!
