Topic: Other people's videos.

Just finished watching this video, it was uploaded by one of my You Tube chums who lives up north. Most of her videos are pretty good, but this one was, in my opinion, exceptional. It was shot in Cumbria at the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis.

Sit back and enjoy 6 minutes and 41 seconds of fantastic footage. I hope I have not built this up too much!!

No, you hadn’t built that up too much, Albert! When I saw that you had created a thread for sharing “Other people’s videos” I suspected that you might start with one of your friend Julie’s fine examples, and I wasn’t disappointed. Thanks for sharing.

I really liked that, good content and music to match it as well, I think that I have seen another film by the same person via a link from a while back last year.

Re: Other people's videos.

Yes well taken but very sad.  Snow Leopards belong on the mountains in their natural environment not in a cage in UK.  Surely a "Wildlife Oasis" should be providing a better environment?

When I showed this video to Jill this morning, she said the same thing, and that was before she read your comment Eric. Apart from being en-caged, they are used to a much colder climate, so not good.

Whilst I do agree I suppose that you could say that about lots of species of animals in zoos that are not in their environment ?
At least "most" are fed and looked after as much as possible and we have the RSPCA that do tend to keep an eye on them. What I don't particualy like are people that keep things like snakes and lizards and caged birds in totaly unsuitable places like small flats, no doubt some people do look after them but there are a certain type that just buy them as a fashion accessory !

Yes, but the Snow Leopard jumped out at me when I saw it.  Looking at it closely it appears to be in a cage of some sort not an open area as many zoos nowadays try to provide.

Reminds me of the video I made six years ago https://vimeo.com/143450885

Of technical interest - the bear is a full plate monochrome print that I still have and the PIP video clips at the start are from my 8mm "off the screen" captures.

I don’t think I’d be too happy about a Snow Leopard jumping out at me! https://punster.me/images/ohmy.gif https://punster.me/images/tongue.gif https://punster.me/images/whistling.gif

I enjoyed that Eric, well done for a good easy film to follow. Looking at the Wallabies, where we live in the UK there was an Australian guy who had a few on his large premesis and sometimes when we were driving about we would encounter one that had got out !  We are used to lots of deer around the area but to suddenly be confronted by one of these in the road (especially at night) was a bit of a shock !

There’s just one tiny problem, Eric: you omitted the all-important string of smilies when you quoted me.

I’ve just stumbled upon this lovely little clip.

Sorry but it's because they mean little to me.  They're just funny faces. The meaning of most isn't apparent.  When using your page of smilies I have to look at the file name to find what it is.

So much like a large pussy cat.

Re: Other people's videos.

This is a video of Leonardslee Gardens, a place we visited a month or so back. It's quite a long piece, almost 18 minutes in length. The reason I'm posting it is because of the effects it uses, the link starts around two minutes in. https://youtu.be/XrZEctEeRuA?t=111

I guess that it is achieved by using some kind of fish-eye lens, it's quite effective, almost like using a kaleidoscope. The effect is repeated a few minutes later.

What do you think of it?

Avalanche

That's very scary. What happened to his nine companions, I wonder.

From his commentary alongside the video:

I knew the rest of the group was further away from the avalanche so should be okay. When I re-joined them I could see they were all safe, although one had cut her knee quite badly (she rode one of the horses to the nearest medical facility). Another had fallen off a horse and sustained some light bruising.

The whole group was laughing and crying, happy to be alive (including the girl who cut her knee). It was only later we realised just how lucky we’d been. If we had walked 5 minutes further on our trek, we would all be dead.

Re: Other people's videos.

Link was wrong Alfred .. You linked to the Lego Drone.  Brilliant.  The whole thing is amazing, including the filmmaking.  His knowledge, brains and dedication are a marvel.  A little research tells me he ( I assume a he)  is from Finland.

Correct link to Submarine

I found out a little more about him on Facebook.

I’m a Finnish middle-aged guy and I run the channel by myself. I have worked for over 10 years as a software engineer. This video creation hobby combines the things I have always liked – physics, math and visual arts.

Belated thanks, Paul. I don’t know how I managed that!
