Topic: Purported virus infection on this Windows 10 computer

For a while now, today, I keep getting a panel in the lower
right corner of the screen purporting to be from McAfee that
my virus protection expired on 23 June 2025 and that my
PC is affected and offering a paid subscription.

How can I stop this purported McAfee panel from
appearing please?

I did a hard sswitch off, the started up again, and I got the
view from the cavev picture so I wondered if the system had
fixed it.

But alas no, it has come back again.

I seem to remember that Windows has its own inbuilt
virus finder and remover.

Does anyone know how to start it please?

Re: Purported virus infection on this Windows 10 computer

I found a website about malware that says it is a push notification (of which topic I know nothing) and gave a list of things to do, the first being to clear bowser history and cookies.

I did that and restarted the computer and thus far it seems to be cleared.

Maybe the S in Windows 10S stopped it getting more embedded.

So, hoping it has gone, but proceeding wit caution.
