Yes Albert I liked that video !, as for the wallabies !! There was a rich aussie family that lived on the outskirts of our village in Kent that kept loads of them, sometimes you would be driving home (day or night) and one or two (or more) would suddenly appear on the road just like the deer do. Several times I have gone round to their house to tell them and finished up helping catching them. This was in my younger fitter days of course about 50 years ago and we used to use their tennis court net !

This probably shows why you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover !

Re: Post your videos here

Thank you Gordon, three very different videos. I do remember the opera singer and your 'trek', but the one which really struck me was the last video of the never sold properties, it looked like a scene from the BBC daytime programme called "Homes Under the Hammer" where property developers buy up dilapidated buildings, work on them for a few months then sell them off for a decent profit. Maybe the BBC could do a Spanish version of the show.

I often wonder why they build these places without doing their homework as to whether people are actually going to buy them !
Someone obviously looses money ! building firms/speculators or even criminals. We overlook a valley behind us that had an access road put in and groundwork started with plots measured out. This was about ten years ago and is now all overgrown, however it could all start up again in the future. The massive hotel between Mojacar and Carboneras that was almost finished has stood empty for years as it was built illegally ! obviously it was built overnight in the dark ! The local councils have all said that it's going to be demolished but don't know who is going to pay for it !

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Gordon.  I remember the first two.  Abandoned buildings is ghost-like.  Possibly some interesting stories hidden here.  With the last video the buildings look unfinished but then maybe the missing fittings were subsequently removed by scavengers/recyclers.

Re: Post your videos here

Hi guys, as you well know I film loads of bands performing down here in Spain and most of it will not be to your liking, however I got one of my mates down here (who is a professional musician and a heavy rock singer) to make this little number ! Like it or not here it is !!! https://youtu.be/-Td_NwqenFg

Re: Post your videos here

That was great Gordon, I loved it, what a really good voice, shame about the hair, but I guess you can't have everything! How do you manage to record him in three or four different locations and in each case the lip sync is perfect. I expect he has to sing the song in its entirety in each location, then you decide what part to put where when doing the edit. Must be quite painstaking, but oh so rewarding when its put together like that.

You can't be a heavy rock singer with no hair! and mine is even longer than his !! just think of the money that we save in not having a haircut !!
Yes it's as you thought, you film the person lip syncing in each location and just put the complete timelines on top of one another in sync with the recorded song on the bottom. You can then cut out various parts of the timelines to edit it and everything "should" keep in sync. He recorded the sound track in his studio and I simply played it back via my phone and Bluetooth speaker while he mimed to it.
I decided to also put in the sound of the sea at a low volume to add to the final audio mix and it was filmed on the beach in front of our place.
Kev Moore lives just up the road to me in Spain and flew out yesterday to do a gig in the UK today (Saturday) in a rock tribute band.

Thanks Gordon, well done.

How's the temperature where you are? Seeing reports of heatwaves in Southern Europe.

Hi ericnz, it has been up to 40c at certain times of the day, however that is not that unusual in Mojacar. When we first came down here in 1973 I had never been to a place that is that hot for days on end !    At least our pool doesn't need any heating !  the water was 30c at 10pm last night !

Incidentally this is the singer as he normally is on stage!

Well the last thing that I expected to happen to us in Spain was an earthquake ! Although our area does have minor tremors this was a big one ! We were in bed at the time at 7.13 am and yes the earth did move !! Luckily we seem to have got away without even a broken glass.

Re: Post your videos here

Wow, Gordon! It’s good to hear that you’re both safe and sound.

I’ve just read that the earthquake was of magnitude 5.4 and caused a roof collapse in the cafe of the departure lounge at Almeria Airport.

Good to know that all is well with you.

We had an 'earth did move' moment back in 2002 with an earthquake centred in Dudley, about 40 minutes away. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2328911.stm

I was in the middle of a meditation before settling down to sleep and Hubby was in the bath. I immediately knew what had happened as the grinding sound and vibration worked its way into my meditation. I kind of visualised it. I sprinted in to Hubby, asking, 'Did you feel that!!!' and he replied he'd not exactly felt it as such, but there had been a mini tidal wave in the bath!

When we went downstairs, one of our cats was lurking in the door frame between the lounge and the dining room. We found that quite amusing as just a few days previously we had been watching the film 'Volcano' with Tommy Lee Jones in it. One scene showed people sheltering in amongst the door frames, as this is apparently one of the safest structural places to be in such a situation. Pyewacket had obviously been watching and taking notes, 'just in case..., don'tcha know?' https://punster.me/images/tongue.gif

Re: Post your videos here

Ok we are back in the UK after delay after delay and change of airports from Almeria to Murcia. We got home at 1.30am this morning and have actually come back for the funeral of the Newscaster Sandy Gall who I have been friends with for over 50 years and lived just down the road, the funeral is today at 12.30 in Tunbridge Wells and burial in a tiny graveyard that we can see from our house.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks for posting, Gordon. I had no idea that Sandy Gall was still with us until so very recently.

Re: Post your videos here

Hi guys, we are back from Spain for a while to enjoy our countryside residence and sort out various "things". The worse being cutting the "jungle" down that has grown up in the last couple of months while we were away !  I haven't been doing any filming until yesterday when we went for a walk across the fields from our house to the local cemetery and have a look around. It's amazing how many of our younger friends (including scoolfriend's) are buried there and I often wonder how long it will be before it's my turn ! Sandy Gall's plot is unfinished and probably won't have a headstone for some while.  I decided to make a short video (4mins), it might be a funny thing to film but I am always thinking of different things to shoot.  https://youtu.be/MgdyQEMh0kk

A lovely tranquil piece of video. I know many shun graveyards because of what they are, I suppose, but I always rather enjoy a slow walk around, reading the gravestones and getting an idea of the social history they reveal. I'll be doing a lot more of that once we get the house move over, and I have time to devote to the family tree research again. That will include going around the cemeteries/graveyards where those before me are laid to rest.

Thank you Karen, the graveyard is full up with the surnames of people that I grew up with and their parents/grandparents, and as you probably realise the headstone that is shown is my mother and my father (who lived over 100).  Not many people are actually buried these days but are cremated in the nearest towns and just have a simple tile placard. The graveyard is just about full up now so I don't know who decides when enough is enough !

Yes, I'm finding similar when I see my Facebook Memories come up. Names of friends, many who I knew in real life, not just online, who are now longer with us.

You are correct in saying that fewer people nowadays are being buried. It might sound macabre, but we have already made plans for our own funerals, although now the final location may change. We both want a natural burial, and I have learned that there is a meadow burial ground just about an hour away from where we are going to live. So I could have a plaque to mark the spot, although I do like the idea of having a tree planted instead.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Gordon.  Graveyards always fascinate me.  My parents were cremated at Barham Crematorium in Kent.  I've never visited there and now in my very senior years am unlikely to ever do so.

I cannot recall if I've ever posted this https://youtu.be/ay9aPPY1K7g  Only five minutes long called "At Peace".  It's a cemetery visit made eight years ago.  How time flies.  My friend that drove me around passed away last year in her 90s so is now there with her late husband both "in peace".

Thanks ericinz, that was a well made film and I can relate to it !  I don't know if much younger people would agree with me though ? as I get older I realise that I am getting nearer the end as the years seem to fly by quicker day by day. Saying that my father lived another 20 years than what I am now so I can only hope.
I must get motivated to make a decent video in the near future! and as I am not in Spain for over a month or so I can't continue with my videos of singers recording different songs that they are not known for and filming them lipsyncing in outdoor settings. I have already got 2 audio recordings ready to go for when I return.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Gordon for your video, I really enjoyed it, if that's the right word! I have never made a video entirely based around a church and graveyard, although a few of my videos do feature such places, just for a few seconds or so.

I do remember watching your video Eric a few years ago and thought then, what a very strange subject for a video, but it was a strangely enjoyable watch.

Thanks again both.

Re: Post your videos here

Hi guys, I am still in the UK for a couple of weeks and I had to go and give a prize to someone at a Classic Car Show in our village.
So I simply walked about with my camcorder in hand and strung this together. It may not be your "cup of tea" but at this moment I am trying to sell off 60 odd years of car parts and tools from my job as a motor mechanic and clear several trees from our garden. I Also have to clear the workshop as someone else want's to move in ! We will then be back in Spain for a while. Cheers.

Thanks Gordon.  Among the vehicles I noticed a blue Morris 1000 Traveler with woodwork just like I had many years ago in UK.  Back in the days engines faced north/south and had a hole in front for a starting handle, so useful in freezing conditions and when batteries were low.
