Here is the transcript

[WJGO]
Please produce an original painting.
Noswaith dda, Draig, ble mae'r pannas?

[Copilot]
Your magical Welsh garden scene is on its way! [redacted dragon emoji][redacted stars emoji] I pictured that greeting as a playful invitation into a twilight world of dragons and vegetables—pure fantasy with a touch of cozy countryside charm.

Let’s see where the dragon’s quest for parsnips leads…

Can you remove the parsnips from the basket so that the lady is holding an empty basket please?

[Copilot]
Here comes your updated painting—with a basket now as empty as the dragon’s snack stash! [redacted leaf emoji?] The lady’s quest for pannas just got a little more urgent… let’s see how she fares!

Re: Your jokes

Did you see the final post on page 14?

I suppose part of why I thought it hilarious is because many of the sentences in the Duolingo Welsh course are about parsnips.

So as words and tenses are introduced the exercises often include something about parsnips.

I cannot remember specific examples, apart from the one in this thread but the sort of thing is as follows.

If a word is introduced, like buying, cooking, eating, growing and so on, the word for parsnips pannas is often used too.

I find it rather good because it helps me go from the known to the new by often having the word pannas in the sentence, so using an often used noun.

One could place parsnips into a pink car and so on.

Yellow parsnips pannas melyn have sometimes been included.

I find myself laughing now.

Also, the idea of asking the dragon where are the parsnips seemed to me to suggest a suspicion that the dragon had eaten them.

I just thought it was hilarious.

Silly, very silly, Karen! But it did raise a smile, and I confess to being highly likely to share it.

Just tickled my slightly warped sense of humour, Alfred. I nicked it from a Facebook post. https://punster.me/images/tongue.gif

"Possibly."

I think you’ll have to explain the joke to most of this forum’s audience, William.

Thank you, but that link only yields an explanation of the ‘Possibly’ reference. It doesn’t tell us anything about dragons or parsnips.

Re: Your jokes

In various places in the novel, Edith says "Possibly" rather than saying "Yes".

For example in the following where Edith lets Simon know why Mariposa is visiting without telling Simon, a journalist, anything he can quote.

Also, about parsnips.

This picture alsio provides an idea of what a Duolingo exercise looks like, about fifteen exercises similar to this in a lesson. Similar, yet various types, such as listening, translating into English, translating into Welsh.

The weird-jokes.com site is a great find, by the way. Right there on the home page this morning:

I went for a job interview at UPS. I said, “Sorry I'm late, I went to the wrong address" - and they made me regional manager.

Dove chocolate tastes way better than their soap.

I love the phrase “bear with me” because it either means “please be patient” or “the zoo heist was a success.”

The old ones are the best!

"Doctor, I keep seeing stars and spots before my eyes."
"Have you seen an optician?"
"No, just stars and spots."

Re: Your jokes

Teacher: “If I gave you 2 cats and another 2 cats and another 2, how many would you have?”

Johnny: “Seven.”

Teacher: “No, listen carefully… If I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?”

Johnny: “Seven.”

Teacher: “Let me put it to you differently. If I gave you two apples, and another two apples and another two, how many would you have?”

Johnny: “Six.”

Teacher: “Good. Now if I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?”

Johnny: “Seven!”

Teacher: “Johnny, where in the heck do you get seven from?!”

Johnny: “Because I’ve already got a freaking cat!”

Re: Your jokes

Kid: "Dad, what’s leather made from?"

Dad: "Hide."

Kid: "What???"

Dad: "Hide: a cow’s outside."

Kid: "I'm not afraid of a cow!"

Those are right crackers of jokes, Alfred, on that site. https://punster.me/images/thumbup1.gif

Found another:

I asked the librarian if she had a book about Pavlov’s dog and Schrödinger’s cat.

She said it rang a bell, but she wasn’t sure if it was there or not.

Re: Your jokes

Don't know if I've listed this before.

I went to the opticians and he asks "What's the problem?"
I tell him "I can't see very far."
He pulls me out of the chair and throws me outside.
He says "Look up,what can you see?"
I say "The sun."
He says "How far do you want to see?"

Somewhere over the rainbow, weigh a pie ...

Re: Your jokes

I remember one time seeing a cartoon reposted on the Unicode mailing list where someone had got Scrabble tiles with unusual characters and large scores.

The cartoon had the caption "I've got some weird tiles."

It did not have this one, but to get the flavour (pun intended) please imagine a Scrabble tile with an emoji of a Strawberry and a score of 22!
