Topic: Sad News about MikeW

Many of you will know Mike from the Affinity Forums and/or other support forums for graphics software (including, but not limited to, Serif’s ‘Plus’ products). Patrick Connor, Head of Software Testing and QA at Serif, has relayed the following message from Mike’s wife:

With deep sadness I am letting you know that Mike passed away Friday, July 25.

He had a longtime interest in Graphic Arts, desk top publishing and all things computer. ...He did enjoy the Beta testing and using various programs. Just an area that was very fulfilling to him. He did love to help people. The forums gave him that opportunity.

Re: Sad News about MikeW

Thanks Alfred.  I don't recall him from the old Serif forums and as Serif buried their forums years ago I'm unable to look back.  I rarely visit the Affinity forums as I don't have any Affinity products.

Re: Sad News about MikeW

Dear family and friends of MikeW,

I send my deepest sympathy and wishes to the family and friends of MikeW. He will be remembered as a helpful and friendly person by many Serif/Affinity users.

Rest in peace MikeW, you will not be forgotten.

Kind regards,

Chris

Thank you, Alfred, for your help, which is very much appreciated.

Welcome, Chris. I’m sorry that recent events necessitated your first post here being on such a sad subject.

Re: Sad News about MikeW

Very sad news about Mike W.
He put me right so many times years ago in the old Serif Furums, as did Marylin - remember Marylin!

Sorry I am not here as often as I would like Alfred, but my 32-page football match programmes keeps my glued to the computer, and many sleepless nights too. It should be one match programme a fortnight, but the club is having a successful run in cup competitions, (apart from league fixtures), and I have had to do six programmes in the past four weeks.

Anyway, it was Mike W (and Marylin, etc!) who were my inspiration and work with all the Serif products over many years and probably the reason why I am still so involved with all Serif's legacy products.

Serif forums, old and new. brought us all together as one big family and when we lose a family member it affects us all deeply.

R.I.P. Mike W.

I too remember MikeW, and I'm still in touch with MJH (aka: Marilyn) although it's been sporadic. She seems well and happy.

Oh, that is good to know. I was thinking about Marilyn just a few days ago, wondering how she was.

"I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
"Cats," he said eventually. "Cats are nice."

Good to know that Marilyn is OK.

I'm glad to hear that Marilyn is OK. I haven’t heard from her directly in a very, very long time!

Re: Sad News about MikeW

So sorry to hear this. It is very rare to find someone with that level of expertise, accuracy, and knowledge who is so helpful and generous. I learned quite important matters from his posts. My condolences to his friends and family.
