Topic: WebplusX6 - U-tube videos disappeared

I set up my "hobby" website about 12 years ago and embedded links to two short U-tube videos on X6 software.
Looking online at my website recently I noticed that both videos have disappeared.
I re-added them to my X6 software and uploaded them again.
I searched again online using Edge, Chrome and Firefox but still missing.

Looking at the X6 "Preview Site" - on all 3 browsers the videos are clearly shown and play.
Also if I look on line on my IPAD the videos are there and play!.

Does anyone know why the videos are missing when I log on through my Windows 11 laptop
and can anything be done to rectify it please?

Any help much appreciated.

Re: WebplusX6 - U-tube videos disappeared

I'm confused. Can you see your videos by going to your YouTube channel? You say you can see them on an iPad, but not on a web browser.

I suspect you uploaded the videos to YouTube via WPx6's Insert YouTube Video interface. Instead, log in to your YouTube channel and upload the videos directly. Then, while still on your channel, copy the provided video links, then paste it into your video on your webpage.

Re: WebplusX6 - U-tube videos disappeared

Hi,
I uploaded one of the videos directly to U Tube and then copied the URL address & pasted it into my website - just as you say and also as explained on page 177 of the WebPlusX6 User Guide. The second video was uploaded to U Tube by someone else and I copied and pasted it in the same way.

I have been able to see them both in my website, through my web browser, for years until they disappeared sometime recently.
And yes I can still see them on IPAD, in my website by the U Tube links which are embedded in my site.
There seems no logic in why they can be seen on IPAD but not in web browser on laptop.

The X6 software also indicates they are correctly embedded because they can be watched in the "Preview Site" icon.

What search terms did you use, and why are you searching in the first place? What happens if you go directly to the website by entering the site address in your browser’s address bar?

Are you using the Safari browser on your iPad? Have you tried an alternative such as Firefox?

Re: WebplusX6 - U-tube videos disappeared

Main reason I search sometimes is to check my occasional uploads are successful (and sometimes to look at it with my grandson).
Yes I go directly to the website by entering the site address in a browser address bar.

As regards the IPAD yes I use Safari which successfully plays the video clips from the links on the website. So no need to use Firefox or any other browser for that.

The issue is that the links to the videos don't show on the website when looking at it through any of the browsers on windows laptops.

Re: WebplusX6 - U-tube videos disappeared

I wonder if this is something to do with the security of the YouTube links. If WPX6 generates links that use http:// instead of https:// you may well find that some browsers will block them by default. Pressing Alt+S within WebPlus will allow to inspect and copy the code generated by the YouTube widget, and if it’s missing the ‘s’ from the protocol you can paste the code into the Body section of an HTML Code Fragment object, edit it accordingly and delete the redundant YouTube object.

Before I forget again: a belated welcome to my merry little band!

Thanks for that.  I will check out about the "s".

And thanks for your welcome.

Thank you Alfred- I followed your advice and problem resolved.
Both YouTube video clips can now be seen through the embedded links on my website.
