I habitually use BT webmail.
Today it is going wrong, sometimes.
So I tried to ring 0800 800 150 to get help, the usual help number.
But they have changed it, no longer able to talk to anybody, they send a link to click on. But mine is a basic phone, on pay as you go anyway.
Why?

Since BT has split up to various names it is a major job to actually get anything done especially if you can't speak to anyone !
We have just had a major incident with our phone and internet, we are the last house on the end of old copper wires in our village and the last pole is in our garden. We went completely off the landline phone and internet last week including my mobile that uses the internet when I am at home as we live in a bad reception area.
After many calls for help Openreach found that another contractor had disconnected our line completely on a pole about a quarter of a mile down the road ! Yes they had used our line to put a new connection to someone else ! After a lot of climbing and connecting we did get reconnected. However I then had no upload speed (an 8 minute video took over 2 hrs to upload !!! Anyway this morning they have sorted it and I am back on the maximum that I can expect on the old antiquated lines. When we are in Spain I had a fibre line put into our place and only pay for usage when we are there, it's half the price and twice the speed what we are getting in the UK.
If I visit the BT website home page at https://www.bt.com and scroll down to the footer, there’s a ‘Contact BT’ link (to https://www.bt.com/about/contact-bt) on the left. The target page reveals the number 0330 1234 150 for Home customers.
I vote BT to be the worst phone company in the world. When I was last in England I found it impossible to get through to them on the phone! They never answered, even after several hour-long attempts from a phone box. Just continuous ring tone.
Even visiting their head office in Croydon was fruitless. They just told be to call them by telephone!
Has any privatised ex-national organization ever been an improvement?
