Re: Conserving Affinity forum points

I have 667 - outstanding. So what? Means nothing here.

Re: Conserving Affinity forum points

Reputation point totals mean nothing anywhere unless you factor in the user’s post count. Some talented contributors have made only a handful of posts but have earned a large number of ‘likes’ in response in response to one or two astounding works of art(!) that they’ve created.

Re: Conserving Affinity forum points

Well, you have a huge number of points, so that deserves to be conserved in this thread.

Re: Conserving Affinity forum points

Reputation points on forums are usually awarded to people who make helpful posts, but my ‘rep’ being high is partially due to my posting some things that, whilst not at all helpful, proved amusing enough for multiple users to click on the ‘Laugh’ button.

Your points are conserved on the Affinity-serif forum in perpetuity.
If you are worried do a screen grab.

Re: Conserving Affinity forum points

On another, entirely different forum, I have over 40500 reps - I wish I could monetise those!!! big_smile

Re: Conserving Affinity forum points

Just think, Ali, if you could do that then you might even be able to retire! https://punster.me/images/tongue.gif

Hehehe ... [red_devil_smilie]

By the way, whatever happened to your smilie code? There's no link to it above right, yet you are using some of the smilies here. I seem not to be able to find it.

Re: Conserving Affinity forum points

It’s on the main navbar. I think it’s been there from the very beginning, or shortly afterwards, but until yesterday the target page still had references to CommunityPlus and no link to these forums.

There was only ever one official ‘red devil’, but when I found out that the file name was ‘devil2.gif’ it wasn’t difficult to deduce that there was also a ‘devil.gif’ in the set.

Oh. So when some people laughed at my ideas ...

Ah.

But as Thomas Tusser wrote,

Yet true it is, as cow chews cud
And trees at spring do yield forth bud,
Except wind stands as never it stood,
It is an ill wind turns none to good.

The old saying about an ill wind always reminds me of Danny Kaye’s lyrics:

The oboe, it is clearly understood,
Is an ill wind that no one blows good.

Re: Conserving Affinity forum points

This thread then went off-topic about the oboe for several posts and to some other classical music, Alfred has moved those posts to a thread of their own
