It doesn't tell us anything we don't already know, but it's good to know that a group of designers who are Affinity users have been involved in the background.
It doesn't tell us anything we don't already know
except that
a group of designers who are Affinity users have been involved in the background.
Which is indeed a good thing to know, albeit not hugely surprising.
It's not new information, though: there was an Instagram teaser by made.by.James on 08 October that made this pretty clear.
You’re right, as usual, Ali! Thanks for the clarification.
a group of designers who are Affinity users have been involved in the background.
Hoping they are really designers, and not just influencers.
Said otherwise: if you want your tools to become universal, you involve a mass of contributors into the discussion. Asking to a few of them will just give the opinionated view of the selected ones, that may have been selected after the opinionated view of the product manager.

Will Paterson has a design studio and, considering all I have watched from him in the past, IMO really knows design deeply, not the usual random person just making some cute logos. Has a solid business, for all I know. I know less about James Martin, but he has been designing for 20 years, involved in the creation of a thousand brands.
At the very least, I would say they are not just influencers.

Thanks, Ali! I’ve known that aphorism for a very long time, but I didn’t know about its origin until now.
My dad talks about it a lot - he was a big fan! That and The Goons.

Ok, we have two logo designers. An important professional sector for the seething world of small shops, startups and associations.
Isn't the Affinity Suite a bit more than that? Isn't there also publishing, photo editing, creative illustration, and everything concerning visual design?
I really can't be happy in seeing a whole community replaced by a few people whose main interests seems to be their presence on YouTube.

You are getting unhappy about assumptions. All of this is out of your control. Why make yourself unhappy about something that is far from certain?
