Jarte, a word processor based on Microsoft WordPad, has always been free, with an option to upgrade to Jarte Plus for a small fee. Now that development of Jarte has ceased and support is no longer provided by the developer, you can download Jarte Plus for free.
Alfred... I will thank you again here as I did in the old place.
Jarte is interesting. I'm not sure I will adopt it on a long-going basis, but it definitely is worth exploration. I really like light-weight applications.

Thanks, Alfred. Yes it looks interesting. I'll give it a try. I've never used WordPad either. PagePlus is my usual application for any writing, or Lotus WordPro - now a bit outdated, but still has some useful unique features.

What basic functions haven’t you exploited thus far, Jack? Are there any additional functions that you’re pleased to have available to you now that you’ve downloaded Jarte Plus?
What was behind my statement is that I haven't used Jarte for some time, and all I have done with it is use it as a notebook. I cannot recall, although I'm just not trying it at this moment, if you can change fonts (I expect you can) and whatever else you can expect of a simple word processor.
I tend to write text in Word, and copy to PagePlus X9 where I can more easily get the layout the way I want.
Jackneve... you can indeed change fonts within Jarte Plus, and further the program can recognize a font manager should you have one installed on your machine.
