Subject line says it all.
Already mentioned here, but thanks for making the subject visible to those who haven’t seen the thread in the Affinity-specific ‘General Discussion’ forum.
is know what are the news on this update?
Please see this post to the Release Notes thread.
AfPub 2.6.5 in W10 still crashes after Document Setup A4 to A5, rescale on. Also in 2.6.4. Anyone else seeing this?
With an empty document or with content?

With the BIG update in 3 days, is now the time to do an update to V2?
Do we trust Affinity that this update won't have hooks and SW in it that will do something else in 4 days time?
Just found the update log https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index … nt-1410218
This post covers most of the changes that are included in 2.6.5.
We have released a build to try and address a couple of issues found in 2.6.4 and also to make changes to stop the application offering any way to create an account or starting a trial or suggesting that the software can be bought at the end of the trial. Now that version 2.6 is no longer available to buy, the software has stopped offering any way purchase from within the trial.
The build also fixes a number of minor bugs including some for macOS Tahoe regarding regressions that are specific to that environment.
This bit "stop the application offering any way to create an account" is a bit of a worry and might suggest what ever is next won't be using accounts on the Affinity website....
As I have a perpetual licence, not a trial, and I am not on a Mac, do I need to install this version? Should I?
I have downloaded the updates "just in case" but I am not loading them.
Out of an abundance of caution, I went ahead and downloaded everything in my Affinity account, for both V1 and V2.
I mean, it seems doubtful that previous purchases would be taken away, especially since I can still download V1 when I have V2, but I don't want to be Adobe'd again, so I figured I'd grab everything and have it, just in case.
Only thing I didn't do is download ALL the Windows versions. Each app has four different Windows installers. As I don't use Windows often, I don't know the difference between them. I can sort of tell two are for Intel and two are for ARM processors but I don't know the differences between the two Intel versions and the two ARM versions.
This is for those who had/have difficulty getting the latest update on Mac OS.
In my case it took a day or two for the updates to show up in the Apple Mac Store, but they eventually did show up in the normal manner. The update itself was also “normal”.
I’ll make decisions about next steps later.

That's because Apple has to vet the software. Had you bought direct from Serif, thus allowing them to get all the money rather than Apple having a cut, the program updates would occur when they are pushed out.
Good point. Always go direct to the Vendor, not the Apple Shop.
One big reason is it gives flexibility on which version(s) you download. The Apple shop always and only has the latest version. Going via Affinity, you can (could?) download all versions. And have them as actual files stored safely on your computer.

I’m happy to confirm that the Affinity Store versions are still available for download. Simply visit the appropriate one of the following pages and expand the ‘Previous versions’ section to find the link that you need (changing 2 to 1 for the version 1 downloads):
https://store.serif.com/update/macos/designer/2
https://store.serif.com/update/macos/photo/2
https://store.serif.com/update/macos/publisher/2
https://store.serif.com/update/windows/designer/2
https://store.serif.com/update/windows/photo/2
https://store.serif.com/update/windows/publisher/2
The Universal version 2 updates page is here:
https://store.serif.com/update/universal-licence
One other reason to go direct is for update control. If you want to revert to a previous update because one's current update has an incompatible bug, I don't think the Apple store will allow it.
I’m pretty sure that’s correct, and I believe the Microsoft Store is similarly inflexible.

The delay is much less of a problem than the complete failure to communicate.
Perhaps there is a way to get iPad software from somewhere outside Apple, but I quite comfortable having them in the supply chain.
I sent an email to support asking about why the apps were not showing up. Support guy tried to be helpful, but the instructions for the iPad App Store referenced menu items that do not exist. Advice for Mac was a little better, but the proposed process was rather complicated.
I want Apple in the supply chain because they have leverage. That does not mean I’ll get what I want, or even that I’ll be treated respectfully, but if you’re selling through the App Store you have a lot at risk. Sadly, these days that can be a good thing.
Anyway, I guess we’re about an hour from the big announcement. No more guesses from me after that, just appraisal and change if that’s indicated. I don’t face the problem that some have, as I have just a few hundred AD2 files that really matter to me. I have, but don’t use APhoto2 because it just does not meet my needs. I’ve played with Publisher, but my impression from the forums over that past 18 months or so is that it is severely broken. So I’ll survive with or without, give or take a learning cure or two.
Hoping for the best in spite of the history.

I thought I was being cautious! - I just backed up all the purchased content, and the last update of each version of the apps for Windows.
The main difference between the MSIX and the MSI/EXE versions is that the MSIX is newer and is preferred by Microsoft, as it is sandboxed and considered to be more "secure". The MSI/EXE version is the more traditional type of installer, installed in the normal program files folder. Using this version makes it easier to open files directly from other apps, and to open files by dropping them on the desktop icon etc.
I have downloaded BOTH the MSIX and MSI/EXE for all three apps for 2.6.4 and 2.6.5
I am staying on 2.6.4 for a few weeks to see if anyone reports anything adverse from 2.6.5 As the 2.6.5 release notes say: " We have released a build to try and address a couple of issues found in 2.6.4 and also to make changes to stop the application offering any way to create an account or starting a trial or suggesting that the software can be bought at the end of the trial. So given the nature of Canva and the rapid removal of most things Affinity (and redirects to affinity.studio) I do have concerns that Canva like Apple may put built in obsolescence, sunset stuff or Canva adverts. Don't tell me Serif wouldn't do that sort of thing. It isn't Serif any more, it is Canva. You won't find out what really happened for a year or two.
How did you download 2.6.4? I only saw 2.6.5 downloads as being available.

Thanks!
I'll have to do some digging to see if downloads for prior versions are available for business licenses.

If they disappear I will upload the Windows 2.6.4 to a cloud I own and post the link here.
