Topic: Question about the book panel.

Let's talk about Affinity V3 layout studio for a moment.
In short, the question is:
If I have to lay out a 150/180 page book, would you recommend using the Books panel and dividing it into chapters to create small files that can be merged together, or creating a single file, leaving the Books panel alone, which, according to several forum posts (now discontinued), has proven to be unreliable?

Thank you very much... smile

Re: Question about the book panel.

Lets not.  affinity.studio by Canva  has its own section. https://punster.me/serif/viewforum.php?id=22
This section is for Affinity Publisher.

BTW  in the last email from Serif (Europe) said "This isn’t a version three. It’s something else entirely. An all-in-one, customizable app, combining photo editing, vector design, and page layout in one smooth, powerful space"

Re: Question about the book panel.

The general consensus about Books feature in PagePlus (Serif’s original DTP application) seemed to be that unless your publication has a large number of pages with high-resolution images it’s really only needed on a modern computer if you’re handling a collaborative project. For example, it was used for the Affinity workbooks.

A major downside to splitting an Affinity Publisher document into ‘books’ is that you can’t do a global ‘find and replace’ (e.g. to change the name of a character across all chapters of a novel). The same still applies to Affinity by Canva, as far as I can see.

@JAmedia

Sorry for the wrong section,, it won't happen next time.

@Alfred

Thanks, search is important. Until there's a development in this area, I'll stay away from the Book panel.

No worries, you should get a better response in the affinity.studio section, especially as it moves away from Affinity Publisher V2 there will be crucial differences surfacing.
