Topic: Page Layout on WebPlus X8

Thanks to help from the forum I have over the last 9 months successfully migrated my development platform from running on Windows 10 to a Windows 10 machine. What a difference smile

It has enabled me to put new life into our website.

What I would like to do now, but cannot find a way, is to not have a fixed page size, if that is possible.

Re: Page Layout on WebPlus X8

From Windows 10 to Windows 10 - do you mean Windows 11?

What exactly do you mean about a fixed page size? What's the effect you want?

Re: Page Layout on WebPlus X8

Whoops. Yes I did mean Windows 11.

What I would like to achieve is the effect that https://berkshirecricket.org/ has an example where their page/content resizes according to the window it is viewed with.

You seem to have created the effect on your website. smile

I can alter the size of my pages but they are fixed.

WebPlus never entirely shook off its DTP roots, so the best we can do is to provide a choice of fixed page sizes. Nigel Cooper (‘nfc212’, sadly no longer with us) did develop a method of creating responsive sites using WebPlus, but it wasn’t for the faint-hearted and I don’t have the details to hand.

This is where WebPlus falls down, and it's one of the reasons I stopped using it in December last year when I started building my new website. I now use WYSIWYG Web Builder 20 instead, which makes responsive websites nice and easy to do.

Thanks Ali,
The website I quoted was built using WordPress, again very easy & straight forward.

WYSIWYG Web Builder gives you way more control over your websites than Word Press, It is not a hosted solution - it's a build-your-own solution like WebPlus. It's a different animal altogether.

Thanks Ali,

I did appreciate that.
For what I am trying to achieve overall at the moment I will stick with WordPlus for now as the page sizing is the only "restriction" and I can get around that another way.

Thanks for listening and offering advice.

However, I do have one more question.
Is it possible to create a horizontal navigation bar with drop down options?

Do you mean Webplus or Wordpress?

If you mean Webplus it has a number of horizontal navbars with dropdown options.

Is it possible to create a horizontal navigation bar with drop down options?

I have no idea - I don't use WordPress ... Sorry.

If you’re asking about menus in WordPress, there’s a video tutorial here:

https://wordpress.com/support/menus/cre … down-menus

There are also written instructions on that page.

Sorry this has all got confused.
I want to stick with WordPlus at present. So I was looking if it were possible to create a horizontal navigation bar with drop down options with that software?
It is not the end of the world if not.

The source of the confusion is that you’ve been referring to WebPlus, WordPress, and “WordPlus”. The latter product doesn’t exist (and never has existed, as far as I’m aware). Hence the requests for clarification about the product that you want to use when creating your navbar dropdowns.
