Re: Post your videos here
Nice views of the Sky Tower. I don't suppose you had time to go up it Eric. Needless to say there are some magnificent views from the top, but if you suffer from vertigo, it's a bit of a challenge!!

I've been up to the Sky Tower restaurant in years past. It revolves while you eat. I'm not good with heights.
I have a slight problem, I put one of my older camcorders up for auction on eBay , however I was using one of my newer ones on a tripod a couple of days ago when the wind blew it over and damaged it !!. I have to do a multicam shot for someone at the weekend so I have had to withdraw it.
Ouch! Not good news, Gordon, but at least you hadn’t already sold it and dispatched it to its new owner.
Good luck with your multicam shoot.

Thanks Alfred, multicam tomorrow, however I took a walk up to our local hop garden today to have a look at one of the workers putting the strings up for this years harvest. As is usual the latest Hi Tech equipment is used on this farm ! Regarding the camera on eBay I might just keep it as I would probably only get a couple of hundred quid if I was lucky !

It's quiet on this thread at the moment. The current world situation doesn't help. But then I grew up in a city that was considerably bombed and what I see on TV brings back memories, also of the cold war period. So I'm not motivated at present.
Anyway here's an old video, a 2014 "Garden" video which I probably posted back on the Serif forum. It's a bit different to Albert's NT Visits - Ngatea Water Garden https://vimeo.com/84111231
Thanks Eric, a very interesting water garden, the designers really have a very good sense of humour haven't they. I don't remember seeing that video before.
Maybe I should take a look at my back catalogue to see if there is anything worth linking to.
It's just horrible to look at those scenes from Ukraine on our TVs isn't it, it brings out the very worst emotions of sheer hate in me, no prizes for guessing which person tops the list, just need to get hold of him. Why are the people close to him so very scared of him, I feel sure that they should be able to do something about it and stop this madness. Cowards, the lot of them. I don't know what would constitute a victory in the eyes of Russia, wait until every Ukrainian has left or been killed and then start the rebuilding process in order to home only the Russian people or what? Sheer stupidity in my eyes. The Russian people have already started to suffer, but nothing like the suffering of those in Ukraine who are being terrorized - and for what reason?
Are we on the eve of a third world war?
Yes Albert, the situation gets more depressing every day.
Another "Garden" video - Eden Garden https://vimeo.com/74812556. Again I probably posted it a few years ago on the old Serif Forum.

Yes I have acually stopped listening and watching any news as it upsets me too much, plus I can't do anything about it !!
It's good be able to sit back and watch an easy going video with all these terrible crimes against humanity going on.
Music can help. When humanity along with its problems eventually disappear from this planet I visualise the sound of a great orchestra and haunting human voices closing the final curtain on our existence.
"Last Kiss Goodnight", a track by Kevin MacLeod always haunts me and you can hear it here, along with some pretty pictures to accompany it. https://vimeo.com/98603064
Eric we have used this track in a video previously and as you say it is a haunting piece of music. We /I often listen to as background music whilst we/I are doing video editing. Cheers Vicki
Hi Vicki
Another track of Kevin's that inspires me is "Majestic Hills".
Some lovely images Eric, they really set the music off beautifully.
I used this music back in 2016, when we visited a NT property in West Sussex called Nymans.
https://youtu.be/GaIqhTRZTxE
When I first started video making I concentrated mainly on the visuals, I soon came to realise that the music track was just, if not more, important than the pictures as it was that which set the mood of the video itself. As William pointed out, I also try to cut the video to the music by cutting on the beat whenever possible, it's good to have a decent 'pace', not too long that it seems to drag, and not too quick that the viewer misses the point of the scene.
Thanks Albert, well done. That haunting music again.
I've just remembered I used LKG for a video with a story - The Savage Memorial https://vimeo.com/31242702
It's only Standard definition so the picture quality isn't great.
Whenever I play one of your videos Eric, after the first 5 to10 seconds Jill comes 'running' into the computer room to watch it with me, just the sound of your voice is enough! Neither of us had heard of Mr. Savage and we found the video very interesting.
In complete and utter contrast, as it's the 10th anniversary of the London Olympic Games, I thought that it was appropriate to take you back to the only event that we managed to get tickets for. It was the Ladies Mountain Bike Race held at Hadleigh Farm near Southend. Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks Albert. As an ex UK cyclist it was of great interest. Obviously a windy day and the occasional wind noise added to the atmosphere.
10 years ago - a lot has happened since then and not for the better.
Question: What do these TV programmes and films all have in common? Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, Wolf Hall, Cranford and His Dark Materials.
Answer; they have all had scenes that were shot in this location in Wiltshire - Lacock Village.
We visited there in 2015 and enjoyed the old fashioned quaintness of the place.
Thanks Albert. Fascinating. Remove the vehicles and road signs, and replace the tarmac with cobbles and it would be like stepping back into the past.
If you would like to see some photographs of Lacock taken by our good friend Richard, then click on this, https://www.stonehouse.camera/Out-and-a … /i-c2wWHP7
There are a few pictures of myself and Jill on there.
Thanks. Again the cars spoil the view!
You look young. No grey hairs yet?
They did rather didn't they.
I wonder how long it takes them to 'lose' the cars when the blockbuster film companies come calling.
Thank you for the compliment Eric, back in 2015, I would have been 64, I do have a few grey streaks in my hair, but nothing like Jill, she lost the colour in her hair years ago, but everyone agrees that it looks rather splendid.

Incidentally have you ever visited Castle Combe ? one of the prettiest places in the UK where lots of period films have been made over the years.
Being a few years older than you Albert I to have a full head of hair with no grey parts but my beard has gone white so lots of our friends always assume that I dye it but I never have, my father who lived to over a 100 had a good head of black hair when he was 90. unfortunately my wife's hair that was a natural blond has turned white in the last few years.
Castle Combe does ring a bell Gordon, and looking at a few pictures of it on the internet it does look a little familiar. Again it's in Wiltshire and not a million mile from Lacock. Next time we visit Richard I will mention it to him and maybe he can take us there.
This site looks like a good read, and has some very nice pictures of the place. https://www.baldhiker.com/2020/05/26/ca … e-village/

Yes we have been there many times, in another life I raced cars very successfully from 1968-2012 and won 0ver 250 races in the UK/Belgium/Ireland/Germany/ Holland plus 2 British championships, and Castle Combe race circuit was one of the tracks that we used. As the village is just down the road from the circuit we would go and explore it as we were there for the whole weekend.
With all the doom and gloom going on in the world I haven't felt like making any videos for the last few weeks however, we are going to Spain for a while that is bound to drum up a bit of enthusiasm !
Yesterday I had a wander about in the garden and in our local wood and strung a short video together showing that whatever happens in this "crazy world" that we have found ourselves in, things keep growing to order.
