Topic: It's incredibly slow

OK - I realise I'm now using an 8? year old unsupported programme, but I have been a user for 10 years. X8 Win7 64bit.

It is incredibly slow - I mean REALLY slow. I just put up with it, I assume it is because it is so old?

Is this the same for everyone else? Or could I do something about it?

Re: It's incredibly slow

I stopped using it just over a year ago and moved to WYSIWYG Web Builder instead. I don't recall it being slow, but there were some other niggles beginning to occur as time went by.

Re: It's incredibly slow

I don't find it slow on win10 in design mode. I don't use it to upload websites and like Ali, I moved to WYSIWYG Web Builder years ago.

Somewhere over the rainbow, weigh a pie ...

Re: It's incredibly slow

Mine is not as sprightly as it used to be on Windows 11 but is still perfectly usable. I did have issues a while back with it getting slower and slower but resolved it by linking all my files rather than embedding them. Made a huge difference.

Re: It's incredibly slow

I use X7 on Windows 10. Site has about 100 pages and currently working just as fast as ever. Going to have to get a new laptop with Windows 11 by October as that's when my extended support runs out so will have to see how the new configuration goes.

That is about the size of my site - so that's a good comparison. I generally don't embed graphics. So it seems my problem is Windows 7.

Re: It's incredibly slow

I have anything from 1 to 10 images on each page and they are all embedded.

Out of interest, do you only use that computer for Webplus? Just wondering how you keep it secure.

Yes, it my only computer. I think you'l find a lot of people are on W7 still.

I'm on Norton, and never open dodgy emails no matter how convincing. Actually ChatGPT is very good at analysing email headers.

Re: It's incredibly slow

I still can't decide whether to get a new laptop or not. Trouble is I have read that the virus and malware programmes, although they still work, give little protection as they only cater for the latest platforms and don't update for the previous ones so they give very little protection.
