maybe an idea to rename the group 'Affinity Desktop Questions' to 'Affinity Desktop Questions (Photo/Designer)'

Thanks, Maarten. That’s a good idea: it makes it clear and unambiguous.

Good work - well done.

What she said! Although I have to confess that I found the following (my emphasis) a little fishy:

For those who understand such things we have a Submissions guide but we must stress we would rather have an article than not. Also it stops two people whiting similar articles in isolation.

For what it’s worth, I’ve always regarded the word ‘planter’ as shorthand for ‘decorative container for one or more plants’. The individual plants may be in their own pots with drainage holes, but the planter itself would, as you say, need a drip tray beneath it if it had a hole or holes of its own.

You’re welcome, Ali. Thanks  to you and Chris (‘JAmedia’) for steering me in this direction.

Thank you for your kind words, William. I endeavour to please!

As I explained elsewhere, I think the rationale behind the subdivisions on the official Serif Affinity Forums is that a great deal of the functionality is ‘cross-product’ and that the apps have so much in common that dividing issues by product is often rather arbitrary, but I accept that this applies mostly to Designer and Photo. Since Publisher is somewhat different in nature, I have now given it its own space.

Affinity — Publisher

Please post all Affinity Publisher topics here, regardless of whether they relate to the desktop versions (APub or APub 2 on Mac, APub or APub 2 on Windows) or the iPad version (APub 2) of the apps.

Also, I have realized that the designs for the planters need modifying - can you work out why?

Your question is (deliberately?) rather vague. Are you referring to aesthetics or practicality? If the former, what do you feel is wrong with them? And if the latter, are you talking about manufacture or usage?

Many forums have data breaches from time to time. It sort of goes with the territory.

Looks to me like a storm in a glass of water:

You’re both right, of course. I shouldn’t have said “very bad”.

@Maarten: Just as a point of information, the usual English expression is “a storm in a teacup”.

Very bad news about Discord:

Discord customer service data breach leaks user info and scanned photo IDs

The company is emailing users impacted by the breach.

Just curious but is there any way to add a like, thumbs up, or similar reaction to someone's post? I would do that to @Alfred just wrote if there is.

I’m afraid not. This is a deliberately lightweight forum, so there aren’t any “reputation” features. If you want to indicate a positive or negative reaction to a post, you have to include it in a reply: you can do that with one of the many smilies accessed via the links in the main navigation bar.

R C-R wrote:

And how to get that @ link to a reply like he did above when mentioning me.

The link is to your profile page, not to a reply. The username above your avatar is hyperlinked to that page, so I picked it up from there.

Bad_Wolf wrote:

Does this mean that when we are stuck, we can post our problem here too?

That’s the general idea, Chris! As @R C-R has observed, Discord is not a substitute for a product support forum. With the official Affinity forums due to become read-only in little more than 48 hours, I thought it made every sense to add unofficial Affinity forums here.

Rege wrote:

It might be a good place to communicate live, but it's definitely not the place to ask for help with software.

Exactly so. It’s a chatroom, not a forum, making it quite unsuitable for user-to-user support.

Welcome, Régis! Thanks for joining my merry little band.

Welcome, Kelly, and thanks for sharing John Atkin’s email with us.

I remain to be convinced that John uses the word “soon” the same way as the rest of us do.

What was your prompt for the third one?

William wrote:

The prompt for that picture was as follows.

An art exhibition on Laputa.

However, it was some way into a conversation with Copliot where several pictures for Affinity in the Alps had been produced, including for the après-giclée party, and I, enjoying the imaginary scenario, decided to ask for a picture of an art exhibition on Laputa.

William wrote:

Copilot wrote as follows about the picture.

Here it is — the art exhibition on Laputa! A surreal and fantastical showcase set among moss-covered ruins and cascading waterfalls, with vibrant paintings and curious guests beneath the floating island’s gaze. Let me know if you’d like to explore the artworks in more detail or imagine the artists behind them.

Thank you, William.

One of my favourite cartoon drawings is Moose Allain’s "Porktrait & Lambscape Handy orientation guide".
