Your points are conserved on the Affinity-serif forum in perpetuity.
If you are worried do a screen grab.

They would not need to join to be watching.

True.  Which doesn't answer the question: Do you know if any have joined?  It would be nice to know that some are looking here.

I am curious, Alfred, have an Affinity staff joined this forum?  Not asking who or their nickname on here, just if any are watching this forum?

On FB they are telling people using the trial to contact support - provision is being made for their trial periods to be extended.

That's good, as it would suggest there will be something there after the extended period that has some resemblance to the V2 Affinity?

I have no good reason to trust you, so no, I won't - sorry.

But do you have any reason not to trust them?
Do you always look on the negative?
Judge not lest you be judged....

My best guess would be a hybrid approach to pricing - a mixed economy.

I would agree with (hope for) that.   A stand-alone perpetual V3 and a web based subscription as per the "normal" Canva model.

FOUND IT!!!

Shaun Richardson posted a comment on a YT video (that didn't solve the problem)

>Right click on the pages in the left hand panel
>Select Add Pages from File
>Choose the Publisher document that you wish to copy from and an option box will appear
>Select options to suite, including the range of pages

It is that simple, and it works.

The thing is: no one gave this solution last time I asked in the Official (now dead) Affinity forum.  Also I can't find it in the help files anywhere no matter how I ask.

As it says How do I copy pages between documents

I want to take 7 ages out of one publisher document and drop them into another complete with text, images and formatting.

I am sure I have done it before but can't remember.  Any suggestions?

Rather than dump surplus books, a better alternative is to have a book sale, selling the books at very low prices. I have seen it happen. I bought some myself.

A Good Idea(tm)
However, for most Libraries, who are staffed by council employees, that means Doing Something.
If you Do Something, you can be blamed, so better to do nothing.
Also, the council paper work in selling and cash handling etc...    better to do nothing.

Sorry to any council people out there, but that is what I have found in my experience of several  English councils over recent decades. YMMV

Looks like Discord is different per country than. I'm in The Netherlands and never had to do any age verification. But I have discord for a longer time, so maybe existing users don't need to verify.

It is for new and current users I assume in the UK

Therefore, you need a tor Browser  https://www.torproject.org/download

NOTE if you are in the UK then I can't advise you to use the Tor browser to get round all the UK's age verification checks, which it does do.

Plan? Wozzat?? https://punster.me/images/wacko.gif

I think you might need one if the rumour that it won't be a stand alone V3 but a web based system.

I can see you will get a lot more Affinity users on here. V1 and V2

PS when are you going to develop an open source Linux version of the V2 affinity suite? :-)
I am assuming that as this is a user forum not a company forum that does support and feature requests we won't see a Linux thread on here :-)
Actually on a serious point an  Affinity-Linux section for those who are trying to use Affinity on Linux might not be a bad idea, as long as they stay in it with their heretical rants :-)

The reason it has taken this long is, the application has been written from ground up with a the help from Canva's dev team and direction and design by Ash & Co. (imho) - This is the gamble Affinity has taken and they will lose a lot of users if it will a web based application (Which most certainly) will.
I would be amazed it is otherwise.

In which case I am staying on V2

I hope you have a plan for the future, as I suspect this forum will grow, and it might need upgrading to a full forum system.

I am on another forum, completely unrelated, that has two tiers.  Normal, that is free and enhanced that costs £5 a year. The enhanced gives you a few extra things, but it is there for people to support the site. Enough people pay the enhanced to cover most of the bills for the hosting and other bits.

Just something long term to think about.

We have our own ISBNs which helps. If you have an Amazon one you can only sell on Amazon AFAIK.

When you say “an Amazon one”, are you referring to an actual ISBN or do you mean their own ASIN stock identifier?

An actual ISBN you get from here https://nielsenisbnstore.com/Home/Isbn  Some years ago my company bought a bulk set before there was a price rise. They have gone up a lot since then. Once issued they don't age., they last forever.

If you use Amazon and their ISBN they become the publisher so you can only sell via Amazon.

Mine belong to me (JAMedia)  we can put them anywhere.

As a retired librarian I have great love and respect for print media, though many of my former colleagues have been dumping books out of libraries much to my dismay.

I have noticed that because "it is all on-line"  and they want to have new books so the old ones go. The other thing is they want to be "multimedia" and other buzzwords. Also "storage" space costs money. Where I am the Library has been re-organised from three floors to two with the County Council using the top floor as offices.  This is bad as the 1st floor is basically a mezzanine floor, not a full one.   So we have lost over 1/3 of the library floor space.

As for Amazon.... pros and (lots of) cons.  We could do with a list of print on demand outfits and people's experiences of them?  Perhaps a thread on each one?

What I am doing for https://www.tamworthheritage.org.uk/ is PDF on-line but we are also looking at hard copy for some things. But these will be limited edition books, mostly pre-ordered, and we are talking to book binders to have a special custom book.

We have our own ISBNS which helps. If you have an Amazon one you can only sel on Amazon AFAIK.

Discord recently began deploying age verification methods to comply with recently enacted laws intended to protect children, but which have resulted in online services mass-collecting personal identification about users in affected jurisdictions to confirm their age.

I discovered that when I went for a look, and declined to do the age verification.

Partly because the system is insecure, and also because it isn't really needed.

The UK laws were aimed at porn sites, not community support forums. This further indicates discord is not a suitable home for an Affinity community group. Unless all the A-Photo users are all doing hard core porn images? :-)

As I was saying before, the Affinity forum was locked, some time between 01:00 and 08:00 on Monday 6th of October......  https://punster.me/images/myopera/myg/smile.gif

Hopefully I will see all the regulars from the Affinity forum on here.

How about https://emperornapoleon.com/photos/wate … erans.html

Yes, those are some of them...   The note say there was a reunion of the French Troops some 40 years later and many wore their uniforms.
So we do have pictures of soldiers from the Battle of Waterloo, 1815 photographed (long)  after the event.

So whilst photographers started in 1840ish there will be photos of people born in the late 1700s which comes back to the thread title  "Figures Who Lived Long Enough to be Photographed"  Without getting woke, or political ALL people are important and have a story to tell.

Being slykdyxic   (dyslexic)  I have a nightmare with spilling.

Thanks for spotting that typo and I will need to correct it in the morning.

As for the "submissions guide"  well that depends on how you take it.....

(I'm going to have the distinction of the first one banned here aren't I?  :-) )

Look here  https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index. … publisher/
(until MikeTO joins us here) for his free Publisher V2.6 390-page manual is filled with steps, tips, and recommendations:

Well worth having.

For what it’s worth, I’ve always regarded the word ‘planter’ as shorthand for ‘decorative container for one or more plants’. The individual plants may be in their own pots with drainage holes, but the planter itself would, as you say, need a drip tray beneath it if it had a hole or holes of its own.

There are planters and there are planters... I had to get planning permission for the 5 in my front garden. I kid you not.
SO a drip try is going to be fun.

The title of this thread is an oxymoron.  Bing Chat AI can not create original artwork.
EVERYTHING it creates is using data from a lot of stolen work..

There are photographs of the soldiers from the Battle of Waterloo in 1815

Now the astute may recall that photography wasn't invented until the late 1830s and wasn't a practical thing until the late 1840s.

What happened was in the 1840s/50s a photographer got hold of some of the French soldiers who survived, I think mainly the Imperial Guard,  and photographed those who had still kept their uniforms.  So they have photos in uniform of the Imperial Guard from Waterloo. Even if they uniforms were a little ill-fitting some 35–40 years later.  I will have to see if I can find them on-line,  I am sure Stanley Kubrick found them for his film about Napoleon that never go made.

Recently, I remembered that in the 1950s I was told that people in Birmingham lived in slums.

William

You may be interested in the (free) summer issue of the Tamworth Heritage Magazine  https://www.tamworthheritage.org.uk/Mag … Vol3_3.pdf  as it has an article on how and why those slums were cleared in the 1950s.

It is in the Tamworth Heritage Magazine because they moved 50,000 Brummies to Tamworth which had a population of 25,000 thereby crippling the size of the town in under a decade.,

Thanks for that.  I screwed up the turning it into a link. Fixed now.

We are working on multiple History/Heritage books as well as the magazine.   Some are going to be hardback books, so pleased to see the section on Print-Media in this forum.
