Just been out to get the emptied recycle bin back in to safety, as the binmen (and bin lady) are still out and about today, despite the weather. I took a very quick walk up the back garden to look at the weather station. The post it is on is swaying like a good'un, and the little anemometer is whizzing around like crazy. Even in the relative shelter of the back garden, I was being blown around like mad.

It's not quite as strong, though, as the time we went up Addleborough in the Yorkshire Dales. Going up we were in the lee of the hill and thus protected, but once we got on top we estimated the wind was blowing, not gusting, at around a steady 40-50 knots. This based on the fact that neither of us could move forward very easily, and if we turned our backs and tried to lean back, it was impossible. We decided it was wiser to walk back the way we had come, rather than carrying on the round walk. It's probable that we could easily have been plucked off the path by the wind if we had continued on the route. Ah, memories... https://punster.me/images/tongue.gif

I'm rather hacked off because our home weather station anemometer stopped working a few days ago, after only having been working again for a couple of months since the last time it stopped working. It requires a reset, which is fine if you don't mind shinning up a ladder to get the whole shebang down from something like 30 foot up. Which neither OH or I can do.

The lovely chap who has re-done our bathroom helped us get it reset just before Christmas, after 5 months of no windspeed readings. When OH got back to the people he bought it from they told him it needs resetting again, just as before. Obviously, the last few days have made it too risky to be shinning up ladders so Glyn will sort it for us when things calm down again.

OH is too nice. If it was me, I'd be demanding a new weather station as it is not fit for purpose if you have to keep resetting the anemometer every couple of months. If it goes again, I think he will finally kick up a stink.

In the meantime, when I'd really like to know what the windspeed is, I'm left with nothing. https://punster.me/images/crying.gif

It hasn't been too bad here in the Midlands so far. Only now does the wind seem to be really picking up. OH and his bee-keeping friend Chris are hoping that their hives in the various out-apiaries come through unscathed. Chris said she'll be taking her binoculars when they go to have a look tomorrow as one of the sites is a bit muddy at the best of times. When they went a few days ago, the farmer offered to take them over in his 4WD, and even that managed to get bogged down, so it may just be a quick look from a distance, and hope all is well.

Still, one thing amuses us. My late Mother-in-Law was called Eunice. We wonder what she would have thought about having a storm bearing her name, and it being likely to be the worst one in 32 years. https://punster.me/images/whistling.gif

It's our recycle bin day tomorrow. The bin feels quite heavy as OH has been slowly but surely working through the tons of old paperwork, relics of work, but the green compost bin isn't going out as I haven't had a chance this last fortnight to put much in it, other than a few fallen twiggy branches from the silver birch. That would definitely be likely to go off on a tour. https://punster.me/images/myopera/myg/bigsmile.gif

Seen elsewhere. https://punster.me/images/myopera/myg/haha.gifhttps://punster.me/images/myopera/myg/haha.gifhttps://punster.me/images/myopera/myg/haha.gif

I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots.  Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.
I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.
I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there.  I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, my colleagues, and my kids.
I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump,  and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.
I have also been in Doubt.  That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.
I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.
Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.
One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my  age I need all the stimuli I can get!
I may have been in Continent, and I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing.

Believe me, the thought did cross my mind but I didn't fancy having to pay twice when they sent it back as not suitable. https://punster.me/images/laugh.gif

One good thing, I'm a lot slimmer nowadays than when that photos was taken, back in 2014. Hair is still as grey, though. https://punster.me/images/tongue.gif

When I finally got around to getting a new passport, more than 3 decades down the line from the last one, they told me in the Post Office it would be at least 10 weeks or more before it arrived. That was back in October last year. In the end, it was with me within 4 weeks.

I certainly would not object, Jack. I love the look on that cat's face. Very quizzical. Certainly looking forward to seeing one of Suzi, though.
