William wrote:I was just thinking of an option to have a display of 64 emoji in an 8 by 8 array and have a particular array as a standard rather than each app developer choose a different array. I thought that that could be helpful.
As Tex observed in the linked post, it isn’t clear that emoji are needed or optimal for the stated purpose, and in any case the generated password doesn’t need Unicode.
I first saw these quite a while ago but I was reminded of them yesterday. Astounding!

KarenPL wrote:I've been using NexusFont for years. Very easy to use; I just have to remember to open it before I start up CraftArtist or whatever, so they are available to be seen in the progs.
Thanks, Karen. I thought I remembered your being a long-standing NexusFont user!

The grand explanation physicists use to describe how the universe works may have some major new flaws to patch after a fundamental particle was found to have more mass than scientists thought.

Gunpowder comprises saltpetre, sulphur, and charcoal. How would the average dirt floor be helpful?
You’re welcome, Vicki. Let us know how you get on!
Interesting and informative (as Mathologer so often is). Thanks for the link, Jack!
AMP Font Viewer was very good in its day, but I don’t think it’s being actively developed: the website includes a note for users of Windows Vista/7!
Xiles NexusFont is completely free and it’s easy to use. High-Logic MainType is packed with useful features, but the free version has a limit of 2500 fonts and it’s only licensed for non-commercial use.
William wrote:Apparently the pronunciation (as if Hal-eee) is incorrect, apparently it should be (as if Horl - ee) as, it has been claimed, that is how Edmund Halley pronounced his surname.
According to Wikipedia, the first vowel in Edmond/Edmund Halley’s surname should be pronounced /æ/ (as in ‘trap’).
By the way, William, did you see this post on that page?

To my way of thinking, you could reasonably leave the shape of the notice out of it completely! The thing about a circular is that it’s almost always rectangular; the joke here is really about the phrase “no squares” not actually referring to geometrical shapes.
William wrote:An elderly one at the left has a round notice on the gate, with "No circulars" on it.
The young one at the right has a square notice on the gate, with "No squares" on it.
Isn’t that the wrong way around? I would expect the “No circulars” campaigner to eschew the use of a circular notice, and vice versa for the other one.

Your favourite search engine should yield the relevant information quite readily.
Alternatively, go here and paste the emoji into the search bar:

Curiouser and curiouser, as (Lewis Carroll’s) Alice famously remarked. It looked fine in preview but got truncated when posted.

It might be something to do with the two characters at the end of the quoted sentence.
Let’s see what happens if I paste those two characters here.
