i'v been working alot more on my site
but the play/pause buttons work but no sound on mobile device
there's sound on laptop but not mobile. wondering if you could try it out
https://coolvibes-reloaded.com
Play/Pause does not work on my Samsung Galaxy S9 ..
You would need to get the css html code for yourself and add in manually maybe a little research online.
There is another paid option at Serif Addons site here:https://serifaddons.com/mobile-menu-webplus.html
The Serif Addons site seems to be out of business. You can't buy anything. The "contact" form demo is working and looks like something I'd want but can't buy it.
We dont have a licence for X8. Only X4 and X7. The X8 installer makes me think that we made a backup of the wrong one before they where taken down.
Also the Website is partly X4 and mostly X7 as far as i remember.
Try an internet search under "Webplus x7 installer".
Me and a friend of mine are currently working on finishing a very old website. We now want to move to a new computer. This is where we encountered a problem, first we tried moving the program folder as a whole with the contents in AppData to keep any presets we made. As this didn’t work we wanted to reinstall the program on the new pc and move the presets afterwards. Sadly, after more than a day of searching it seems we may have lost our WebPlus X7 installer, we found all necessary codes, a WebPlus X4 and X8 Installer but not the X7 Installer we need. The web was also of little help as serif seems doesn’t offer any downloads and everything third party seems shady at best.
Does anyone still have the Installer for Webplus X7, we would be incredibly grateful if we could finish our project.
Kind regards
Andreas
Install X8. Why not?
I have been using WebPlus X8 for many years and currently have dozens of live websites. I am like a racing driver, good at driving but little idea what is under the bonnet.
My Internet Provider has recently alerted me to the fact that my websites are using PHP version 7.4 and I have to, from April, use the current version, 8.2.
I have had a look under the various setting of WebPlus but I cannot find anywhere PHP or what version is used, is mentioned.
Has anyone any idea, if it is possible, how I can begin to use version 8.2 going forward for new websites and if I can convert the existing websites to the current version?
PHP is a scripting language. It is not part of WebPlus but something you can use with WebPlus to do things WebPlus cannot do.
So unless you are using PHP scripts, you don't need to do anything.
I am sure the problem is my end in sending the images to our server correctly. Thry are not getting them.
Are you using cPanel?
Hi there, for the first time in a long time I altered my website on the computer which was only to change the colour of the master page. After uploading the first file to the server which happens to be the homepage all my pictures and buttons are missing. I noticed the message...'some pictures have been blocked to help prevent the sender from identifying your computer. open this item to view the pictures'
It is either the webplus x2 program or something on my computer which has caused this and not the server.
I have looked into windows defender and firewall with no joy.
So at the moment my website homepage looks dreadful. I dare not upload any more pages as the same will happen judging by the now noticed previews. I cannot regain the old files.
What browser are you using to view your site? Old copy of Internet Explorer? Chrome? Firefox? I believe the error message is coming from your browser.
Can you post the url of your webpage to see if everyone is seeing your home page as you are seeing it?
Majestic Monarchs https://vimeo.com/795458911
Close up video is always a challenge.
Nice work Eric .. I enjoyed it despite the failure to get the emerging Monarch .. thanks for posting .. We have a milkweed plant on our patio. It attracts Monarchs every year. We've seen the caterpillars, and even a few chrysalis .. but have never seen the butterfly emerge. I guess it does happen very fast. Monarchs are so amazing when it comes to finding their one and only food source.
That took a lot of work. Do I detect an Aussie accent?
Yes. Sam Campbell rising young comic from Oz .. Lots of work indeed .. well done. I got a real kick out of it.
This was one of the 2022 award winners on Vimeo. Give it a minute. It's a parody for those wishing to replace MoviePlus and Photoshop with something else.
I still haven't figured out why some people cannot play the audio files. I have mp3 and ogg files which should cover all browsers. Is it possible that ad blockers may be the issue. I have a radio webpage that does not like ad blockers either. Any suggestions?
If you can upload a "test" page to your server and then post the url to the test page, I'll be happy to try the page on different computers and with different browsers to see if all of them play the mp3 files or not ... - Paul
Fungi can be very helpful when making up powerful medicines or harmful when invading your body. Ancient peoples discovered the healing power of mushrooms but may not have realized that fungi are not always your friend. Most people don't realize that Fungi are not animal or plant but their own Kingdom. They are literally everywhere and may have been the key element in bringing living organisms out of the oceans and onto dry land.
As if the Cruise industry hasn't had enough trouble lately.
As we will be in the UK for a while we went for a walk down the back of our house yesterday as the floods have receded. As usual I had my old Panasonic 990 in my pocket to capture a little part of our surroundings.

Eric and Gordon .. nice, peaceful videos. Perfect for this time of year. I enjoyed stepping back to that pace of life one use to enjoy before cell phones, Internets and Covid concerns.
May it be a Healthy and Happy New Year for you and yours.
Paul
Thanks Gordon and Sue. Another warm, humid day here. No snow unlike in the US at present.
No snow here in sunny Southern California Eric .. temps 75 or so Fahrenheit .. Lots of Christmas lights up and shining where I live but nothing like Franklin Road in Auckland ..
Here's a video from 2013 when we cruised to New Zealand. It features our friend Roscoe who lives on Franklin road in or near Ponsonby. Within the first minute we mention the famous Christmas lights on Franklin road.
Meet up with Roscoe -- 6 min.

Hi,
I intend to make a site with links to many quizes and other stuff (mine).
Till now I would add a new quiz and then add a link to index and then each time I have to publish it again and again.
Is there a way to make this index site in such way it will refresh each time I add a new link?
Something like this:
http://quizoftheday.co.uk/Thank you! regards, Natasa
This is an interesting question on Webplus 8 ... there must be a solution. Perhaps a PHP script?
Has anyone had an issue with the audio player not working in Edge or Chrome? I always test it before I upload the changes to the web site, but I have one user that gets an error for the Navigation.user.Agent source not found using an Edge Browser. I use Edge in Windows 10 & 11 and on 4 different PCs and it works fine. I did not know that FireFox will not play mp3 files so I did check the option to play .ogg files in that case and converted the mp3 files to ogg files and placed them in the same directory. The only thing I can think of is that some of her web settings may be corrupt or there is a 3rd party blocker that is preventing the mp3 files from playing. is anyone else having this issue?
No issues here playing mp3 files using Edge, Chrome or Firefox using audio player.
You say you "test" before uploading changes, do you upload the "test" page so as to see how it is working on your server? I'd try to narrow down the problem using a "test" page that is uploaded.
Thanks Paul. Did we see you three times - in a suit then orange then blue shirt? If so you haven't changed much!
Yes. That's me --- as I was in my youth ... ahhhhhh .. the memory of being limber and full of energy.
I'll get some other examples of old film in a few days.
Christmas challenge for film and video makers
Do you remember the first movie you made years ago? Full of errors you wouldn't make now! Can you grab it and post for old times sake? Mine was in Easter 1967 when I went on a "safari" around South London parks "In search of Squirrels" https://vimeo.com/781392655
We don't have squirrels here in NZ. They didn't get here naturally and early European settlers didn't bring any. Unfortunately they brought plenty of other pests which have been very harmful to our native wildlife.
Your beginning efforts Eric (Squirrels) were good .. far steadier than mine. I would say your approach was more directed at a general audience whereas even my earliest efforts were more "home movies". We put ourselves in the movies. But clearly the camera work was shaky and frenetic. I wish we had settled down and made cleaner, clearer shots but it does show my friend Bill and myself, age 18 on a trip after being liberated from High School. I remember we did a film and slide show for our parents when we got back. The whole thing was more than 30 min.
So here's about 2 minutes of that film project of 1962. The digital transfer is poor. The titles and music were added circa 2006 ?? https://youtu.be/Bsw2zbRGegs
Until today I hadn’t heard of either Henry Head or Russell Brain, both of whom were English neurologists.
Two examples I remember from past American politics were Congressmen John Doolittle of California and Tom DeLay of Texas.
Gordon - I did my transfers around 16 years ago using the crude method of copying with a digital video camera off a small screen onto which the film was projected. The quality varied from good to barely acceptable depending on the quality of the original.
Eric and Gordon .... Eric's transfer method is what I'd call an "optical" transfer to digital. Remarkable. I've never seen anyone achieve such high quality with that method.
I did some transfers like that with mediocre results so I finally bought (about 8 years ago) a "Retroscan Universal" that could do a digital scan frame by frame. It was expensive, but when I added up the cost of paying someone else to do the job, it seemed worth it. I had a fair amount of 16mm, Super 8mm and Reg 8mm to transfer. The hardest thing was doing the 16mm release prints that included sound.
Here's a small sample of the results off the "Retroscan Universal" .. https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/158708010/privacy
Just a quick update. I have now cleared the cache but still cannot watch Samoa. The strange thing is that I can watch some of Eric's older videos like the one made in 2015 featuring the insects in his back garden, etc., but as for Samoa...
I'll see if I can watch it with my Alexa device.
Albert .. I may have found the problem. Eric's video is "unrated" and Vimeo says this: "Selecting a rating is encouraged. If your video is unrated, viewers in certain countries won't be able to access it even if you make it public."
My Norton Simon video was also unrated. I just added a rating of "For all audiences".
Can you see my video now? https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/11197112
Is that really your recorded narration 40 years ago? You sound the same.
Yes, when I put my audio visuals and my old 8mm film movies into digital I still had my original reel to reel tapes and my Akai tape deck. Apart from one, my tapes, some going back to the 60s in UK, were in good condition. Most were Scotch Dynarange. I transferred the tape contents to my pc. All my analogue material and equipment has now long gone.
Here's something different again. An 8mm film movie made in 1969 https://vimeo.com/33854096
Outstanding Eric .. Beautiful restoration work .. who could have dreamed of such a thing in 1969? You've documented a bit of history -- I imagine the men shown in the video have mostly gone to their rest ???
pberk wrote:Albert Ross wrote:How come I have to log in in order to watch Samoa? Not being a member it's not possible, any ideas?
Here's what I get when I use Eric's link to the Samoa video ... AS you can see I'm not signed into Vimeo .. I do have a 'Free" account at vimeo but I don't sign in to see Eric's video.
Can you post the screen you get?
Strange. Vimeo says you don't need an account to watch a video if you have the link and the video is unlisted (meaning not private) .. Try this one of mine. Can you see it? https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/11197112
