I've had a free MyHeritage account for several years. It allows you to do unlimited searches of their genealogy records but it is very limited in what you can see beyond the index list returned by a query. To that detail you do need a subscription. [Or you use the list of hits to inform further searching at a library where you can get full access Ancestry for free]
I don't know if the number of photos you can colourise with a free account is limited. I've only tried a couple so far, the test one of the butterfly (which was only taken a few ago so I have a full colour version), and one from the 1920s of two young American sailors in their dress uniforms. It left the 'summer' uniform white and applied a sensible navy blue to the 'winter' one. The flesh tones were OK too. Having said that, it took me two attempts. The first time I uploaded the image 'as is', with a faint sepia hint to it. It simply 'improved' the sepia effect. Second time I upload a true B&W version (which I made using Affinity Photo 2). It applied colour to that version.
This one might be worth trying:

You do need a MyHeritage account but it worked when I tried it using my free account.
It made a decent job of restoring a B&W version of an autumnal tree. perhaps there were some clues about it being a autumn shot from the date taken in the photo metadata. Not so good with the butterfly picture I mentioned. The butterfly was a bit washed out and it took the easy option of making all the flower blooms white. Mind you, if I didn't know what colours the butterfly and the flowers were supposed to be I might be satisfied.
I don't think using Gimp will be simple. As far as I can make out, it doesn't have an autocolourise option. You'd have to select each area and colour it. There's a very short (only 3 minutes) tutorial here:

You could probably apply the same principles within PhotoPlus, which would save you having to learn your way around a new application.
Or maybe not. Just tried that link on a B&W photo of a butterfly and flower. It made a reasonable job of restoring the colour of the butterfly but it made a very poor job of the flower. The colours were washed out.
From the article on the end of the link:
They might look like Adobe's apps, but it doesn't sound like they're able to replace the long-established programs just yet.
Meanwhile, Affinity by Canva is free and already a viable alternative to Adobe apps.
Sorry, I can't help you with any of those questions. I don't have / have never used WebPlus.
Meanwhile, a search on 'meta tag canonical' finds this:

The use of a .htaccess file as described in the link below is probably what you are thinking of:

I've no idea, but the K-Lite codec pack simply adds extra codecs to Windows so it shouldn't interfere with any applications.
Having said that, the K-Lite pack also includes a media player (I forget the name) and so you'll either need to untick the installation of that player or if you don't do that, ensure that the installation doesn't change any file associations, making that player the default for certain file types. if you don't watch out for thst, you might find that your movie files open by default in that media player in that application rather than in MoviePlus.
Whether or not MoviePlus of any flavour will be able to use the extra codecs that K-Lite installs is a different question. I have no experience of any version of MoviePlus.
If you still have your old computer, which presumably does have a CD/DVD drive try this:
1) Put the Movie Plus disk into that drive
2) Open File Explorer and to copy the contents of the disk onto a USB stick
3) Insert the USB stick into your new computer and copy the files into a folder on your new computer
4) Run the set up programme
It's a funny story but i can't find anything to support it as fact.
I can't answer your question but have you read the unofficial manual? Link here:

If that happened to me, I'd be more inclined to attribute the problem my Internet connection speed / bandwidth rather than to my browser.
Having said that, the first thing I'd do would be do some housekeeping in my browser, by clearing the cache and deleting all cookies associated with the problem site, and then restart my browser.
As for some browsers being better than others. I started using Firefox when v1 was released and have used it ever since. In my far from humble opinion, Firefox + uBlock Origin (addon to block ads) is the only sane way to browse the Internet.
DxO also updated Nik 7 and 8.
I was amazed that they actually patched the old versions. DxO are not known for being sympathetic to addressing problems in old versions.

On looking closer I had G'mic 3.4.0 installed in AF3 on Win 11. I now have v3.6.3 installed and working. I did that as follows
1) I downloaded the relevant zip file (GmicPlugin_x64.zip) from here:
https://github.com/0xC0000054/gmic-8bf/releases
2) I unzipped that file and (with AF3 closed) copied the GmicPlugin.8bf file and the Gmic folder into the AF3 plugin folder
3) Opened AF3 and the filters were available
EDITED TO ADD:
Even though my laptop is a Corei7 CPU / 16 GB RAM / RTX 4050 6 GB VRAM, these filters are sloooow
I don't know what version of G'mic I have but I downloaded it way back in July 2024 for use with AFP2. Now, it works with as expected in AF3 on my Win11 laptop. NB my version of Win 11 is still 24H2, not 25H2, but I'd be very surprised if G'mic fails once my machine updates to 25H2.
Have you ticked the 'Allow "unknown" plugins to be used' check box in Edit | Settings| Photoshop Plugins?
It was simple to add my Nik Collection 6 filters to AF3, I copied the relevant folder from my AFP2 plugins folder to the plugins folder of AF3. However, even though the filters are listed in AF3 and can be invoked the 'Apply' button is missing.
However, if I invoke one of ye olde worlde Nik Collection 1 filters the 'Apply' button is there.
If this discrepant behaviour points to the problem being within the Nik 6 code then I can't see DxO ever fixing the problem, since the latest version of Nik is Nik 8.
Other people on the DxO forum are also reporting this behaviour:

Subject line says it all.
A tale of two cats.

I'm in the UK and I'd never been anywhere near Discord until I followed the invite link from the Affinity forum. There was no age verification when I joined.
I then deleted my account about 10 mins later.
