I used Photocraft to produce an e-biook cover. It worked fine. The most frustrating thing about it was not knowing Photoshop. If you know Photoshop, it'll work just fine for that. I certainly won't be using it to replace v3, though.

I downloaded the print book software, but I haven't given it a try.

(I'm on a couple of Macs.)

Recently an A.I. was trying to pass a test. It failed to compute the answer...

So it did what many underachievers do, and cheated. Huh. Imagine that.

I can't disagree.

I'm still somewhat surprised the old forum is still available. Although I was smart enough to download all the submissions I thought I might need in future when they originally appeared, I still point people there when they're looking for some things. Creofora, unfortunately is a poor substitute.

And Canva's silly kiddie-forum replacement - I can't even remember its name - is useless (in my opinion, of course). I signed in to capture my user name, but that's it. I've never been back since signing out.

I just fired up Photo v2 on my Mac, selected Stock / Pixabay, and typed in 'desert'. It worked to find images. Ditto for man, woman, sky, etc. I was able to drag the images into my workspace.

I do have multiple backup copies of all my v2 software. All three are installed and running on my Macs. Thanks for the reminder, though.

I went all-in on the free Affinity v3 a couple of months after it came out. As it was time for a cover refresh, they're all now residing on my backups as Affinity v3 covers. If I must go back to v2, it won't be a big deal. I'm comfortable working in both v2 and v3, having done +60 e-book and +30 print book covers over a span of years. Cover updates are simple in either version.

If there is trouble on the horizon, it was a good run while it lasted. I wonder what might come along to replace it if v3 begins circling the drain with subscriptions? I know from user experience and testing cover building that Apple can't do it with their software.

Well, whatever is going on, I do hope my v2 software keeps working with the Apple OS upgrades. I can certainly recreate my covers with v2, but it will be a pain.

I've tried using that abomination Apple has called Pixelmator Pro for my book covers, but as i said, abomination.

However, Scribus is available for print book interiors, but still...

It would seem the work never ends.

Edited to add the following speculation, because what the hell do I know:

I now have my extended 'free' user base in v3. I think I'll hie off to a bank to see if i can talk the bank into using those numbers as a commitment to begin charging for v3's services. Allow me to present a spreadsheet on projected annual revenue with present users paying their annual subscription fees. Now then, how much can I borrow when the ca$h begins to roll in?

Might I have it right?

Or, they're off to buy Adobe. Bwaaaaahahahahaha. Like that would ever happen.

Or, have we seen the last free update?

Or...

And on and on.

When you can get grandma to use Linux out of the box, I'll be convinced. In the meantime, just which version of Linux should I choose for the old girl to use? After settling on a version, which installer should I use? Huh? Huh?

And how will I convince the old girl that it's better than Win or Mac?

Good grief.

No real surprise and not that unusual. Buyouts will keep them on for a minute to ensure the public thinks "the ship still floats" before cutting them loose "to pursue other endeavors".

I rather enjoyed the bemused expressions on the faces of the King and Queen as some fat old guy jumped in front of them to shake as many of the extended hands as he could. They got out of his way, stood back, and let him run with it. Priceless.

No surprise with the flag debacle, given Australian flags had to be removed from around D.C. and replaced with the proper flag.

Maroons, all of them.

Well, Alfred, if the man actually had an original opinion of his own...

But that will never happen.

The country got what it voted for. I for one am happy to see America do to itself from within that which it has been doing to other countries for decades and decades.

America the beautiful isn't so beautiful any more.

Perhaps off-topic, but in a sense, related: Importing PS gradients into Affinity.

It was one of Elaine Giles' lengthy Publisher videos from years ago that finally scraped the scales from my eyes with regard to that program. Giles and Miss Grundy, my old High School typing teacher, have my enduring gratitude.

America is finally doing to itself what it has been doing to so many other countries for generations. Personally, I find it quite enjoyable to watch the country ripped apart at the seams by a man who couldn't make a profit running a casino.

Alfred, Trump's party (of the Republican kind) will be wheeling him out in a wheelchair. When they want the excuse for a man to agree with whatever is said, someone will turn on his earpiece and pump up the volume on his favorite musical number. The "man" will nod his head to the tune until it fades from his failing mental state, and fall back into catatonia-not to be confused with a region of Spain.

For the pedants out there, si, I know "catatonia" is not a region in Spain.

Thanks, Alfred. And greetings one and all from another Affinity Forum refugee.
