HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wow what a beautiful tree - is it a cherry blossom? Just for the record, Jill and I sat in our back garden for our elevenses this morning for the fist time this year, it's good to know that winter is now firmly behind us isn't it.
Nice video Gordon, it would have been good to have taken an establishing shot of the garden before getting the nice big close ups of those glorious plants.
Thanks Eric, I do like a bit of constructive comment. Having just had a look at it again, I can see what you mean, a second or two longer with the puns would be easy to put right. The first one I didn't put a dissolve in either going in or coming out so you had a full three seconds to read it. For some reason all of the subsequent puns had dissolves which shortened the reading time.
As far as the accreditation to the artists were concerned, I did feel at the time that one or two were a bit swift, but when you think how fast credits go up on TV these days... as you say, if anybody really wants to know who the artists are then there is always the 'pause' button. Thanks again for the comment.
Shaun the sheep was prevalent at Anglesey Abbey, all twelve were beautifully painted, I say all 12, but we managed to miss one, but I assumed that it was beautifully painted!! It was a ewe-nique experience for both of us. There was also a rather wonderful display of daffodils - spring has arrived - yippee... I do hope ewe all enjoy this bit of nonsense https://youtu.be/NniByCHoIsQ
Two lovely videos there Gordon, thanks for the links. Some very nice detail of the trees in the Kent video, and dare I say it, you looked very young and fit too. How long ago was it? I don't think I would have the patience to place the camera down, walk 100 yards or so, and then go back to recover it, we're all different aren't we.
I seem to remember watching the Spanish video a year or so ago, but it was worth a second watch and I enjoyed it. How will you determine which property to sell, it's a tricky one, in some ways I'm glad I do not have that 'problem'. Has your back fully recovered now, I remember you had an injury a few months back.
Thanks Tom, that seems to have done the trick. Not quite sure what I did, but by following your link and playing around with a few settings here and there, then trying to open a project in MVPX6, in hope rather than expectation, the project opened up just fine without that annoying message. Thanks once again.
Thanks Tom. We have simply clicked out of it and carried on as normal without any problems. Just a couple of clicks more to get into the program I guess. Not a great problem, just a little tiresome.
A couple of days ago, when I came to import a project file into MVP X6 this message popped up from my virus checker, and I have no idea what it means or why it has suddenly appeared out of the blue. Anybody any ideas, or what I should do about it?
GStree wrote:I even walked around the garden yesterday to stop my camcorder from seizing up to make a two minute plus "epic" https://youtu.be/a4XODMMu8CI !!
Also, one and a half hours condensed into one minute ! I filmed this one in the same garden at the same time, but a year or so back.

Thanks Gordon. I enjoyed your two 'epic' videos, especially the spring loaded bumble bee, most imaginative!! Nothing worse than having your camcorder seize up, it happened to me once, but it was the battery running out of juice that 'did' for it.
We have a date to see Shaun the Sheep at Anglesey Abbey before March is out, so we'll see if there is anything worth taking...
Another bright and sunny day and we decided to journey forth into Surrey to explore the Winkworth Arboretum. Although there were very few leaves on the trees, I found the way the branches turned and twisted made for a very attractive outlook - see if you agree with me? https://youtu.be/JT5NqcAK5Nk Six minutes long.
Have a good time tomorrow Gordon.
Thanks Alfred, although we visit there quit a lot, we never get bored with it; there is always something new to admire, or even be surprised by, like those sculptures. In my opinion the only thing wrong with the place is the name "Hyde Hall", it doesn't really sound that exciting to me, but what's in a name, I guess.
The weather perked up a bit last Tuesday, which gave us a chance to visit Hyde Hall in the afternoon. It was still very cold and some of my shots were unusable due to my shaky hands. Had enough shots to make an eight and a half minute video. The highlight for me was the live willow sculptures in the winter garden, they had a sea theme, with models of an octopus and jellyfish - most imaginative.
Please do enjoy https://youtu.be/nLbRuG2k59g
I'm glad you asked me that Eric!! I knew they were called "caryatids", because Jill told me, but as for the history or meaning of them, I had not the faintest. According to this site https://www.nationaltrustcollections.or … ect/516655 they are made of coade stone back in 1793.
GStree wrote:I enjoyed that, some excellent shots with good colours. it looked like it was one of those cloudy sun days where the lighting was "just right" that even a single tree branch makes a picture. I wonder how much ended up on the cutting room floor ?
Thanks Gordon, it was a lovely sunny day and for once the sun played ball, a lot of the time when we go on these visits, the sun is either in your face and it's difficult to frame the shot or it's simply not there - you could say it was a Goldilocks sun.
Some of the original shots of the naked trees towards the end seemed a bit flat, so I used the 'more contrast' option in the curve toolbox to give it a bit more life.
How much footage had to be swept up and thrown away is difficult to say, but there was plenty, it took me ages to sweep it all up off the floor. I may treat myself to a new dustpan and brush...
Thanks Karen, very glad you enjoyed the video. I was told by one of the gardeners that the plant with the bees on was in fact winter aconite, and having Google as my friend, I found out that it means, 'Hope, rebirth, and new beginnings', I guess we can all do with a bit of that.
Anglesey Abbey was looking stunning as we ventured out for our first trip of the new year. Snowdrops and daffodils were prevalent as were a few bees - all I needed was a "butterfly or two" so I could take advantage of Dana's song in the 1970s. Hope you enjoy my efforts, just under nine minutes long. https://youtu.be/AeXfKcWnOx4
I am not saying that he is not a talented lad, of course he is, but he could do with some coaching, if that the right word. Given the right advice, I think he will go far, just not quite the finished product IMO.
"I have never seen another pianist showing so much enjoyment for playing."
Are you too young to remember Mrs Mills, she was great.
Do you have QuickTime installed?
Sorry to say Geoff but I am not a great fan of Leander. I discovered his channel a few days ago and initially thought "WOW" how fantastic for somebody so young to be able to play that fluently, and being able to smile at the camera whilst playing. Having watched another half dozen of his videos, I find his playing to be a bit heavy, and dare I say it a little too fast, reminded me a bit of Bobby Crush, if you can remember that far back. To each their own I guess.
Gordon, I also have a "foolproof method as far as spelling is concerned, it's called " Sue",", only my one is called Jill!! The trouble was that I had already uploaded the video before Jill had a chance to watch it, and as soon as she saw the offending caption gave a little squeal and pointed out the error of my ways. I got confused because the word forty does omit the 'u', and I had made a mistake a few year back by spelling it "fourty", so I thought I won't make the same mistake again!! Sometimes you just cannot win...
I have already corrected it Eric, but just for myself when I burn my DVD for the year. I won't bother with the online copy.
You're quite right Alfred, I didn't really think it through did I.
BTW, I'm surprised that you didn't mention my spelling mistake on a caption, or were you too polite to mention it?
Thanks Eric and Alfred.
It should have been a "nice day trip from Essex", but unfortunately the M25 was partly closed due to an accident, which meant a trip which should have taken about an hour, took us almost double the time. Instead of arriving at around 11.15, it wasn't until just before 1.00pm when we did eventually get there. We were not happy bunnies!! Still it was worth it in the end.
Thanks Gordon, I do hope that your back is starting to get better.
Last Wednesday we made our way to Nymans, a NT property in West Sussex. This year they are doing a Narnia theme for the garden with various wardrobes, white witches and lions scattered around the place, it was quite magical, It carries on until January 5th, if you get the chance to go I can thoroughly recommend it.
Please enjoy my video of it.
