Here's another one of my efforts https://youtu.be/IE7QGNLhpFU Leonardslee Garden in West Sussex. Been there a couple of times before, it has a wonderful collection of sculptures, some of which are most peculiar to say the least, but are always very interesting. It also has a marvelous landscape and a collection of wallabies, when we got there, most of them were a bit static so I did not bother including them in the final cut. I hope you enjoy the video, it's a tad shy of 10 minutes.

I enjoyed that Albert, we have been to Leonardslee Gardens but many years ago so it was good to see how much it has altered. Lovely coloures at this time of the year ! and of course you have to film the ducks. I suppose that some of the statues must appeal to someone!
We are back in the UK for a while as the weather is better in the UK at the moment for a change.

Re: Post your videos here

Yes Gordon, those sculptures are not cheap, most go for thousands of pounds as you may have noticed. The "Diva" sculpture of the young lady diving into the lake we actually saw at Wisley a few years ago, I assume that it was the exact same one rather than a copy, but I wouldn't swear to it. Last time we visited Leonardslee there was a much different sculpture in that particular place - how to describe it - probably easier to upload a picture of it, fascinating isn't it.

Yes a fair bit to see without walking too far !!! It looked like you had the train all to yourself. Lot's of colourfull interest throughout including the lama eating his food.
We have an Alpaca that lives in the field next to our house in the UK who is often looking over the hedge at me (probably wondering what I am) !! At least I know the differents between them and a Lama as I found an easy way. They have banana (that rimes with lama) long shaped ears and the Alpaca has very short ones.

A pleasant six minutes that passed all too quickly, Eric! Thanks for sharing it with us.

I presume the captions/subtitles were auto-generated, leading to oddities like this:

We are in the UK for a while as the weather is better than it is in Spain at the moment. However it all changes very quickly.
We went on one of our normal easy walks yesterday and I did take a camcorder to show you what a nice part of the countryside we live in. This is not a particularly good video and I just "strung" some parts together to show you what we have within a very easy reach.

Some very interesting statues.  With a couple of figures there was very little joining them to their base.  As for departing through the Gift Shop there's a good reason for that.  Did you purchase anything?

Anyway here's a short six minute (yes Alfred six is short) effort of mine.  Crystal Mountain.

I never realized that there were dinosaurs in  NZ.  Apparently there were.  Nice job Eric.  I can always count on your videos to hum along at a relaxed  pace.  Nice and soothing.   Cheers !!

P.s. It did look like the same Peacock 4 years later.  Nothing wrong with your memory ------ yet.

Thanks Gordon.  I like the "suspense" music.

I had nothing to do with the captions.  Maybe I should try doing my own if it's possible.  Yes both Vimeo and YouTube struggled with some of my narration.  Approaching 83 years my voice isn't what it used to be and I struggle to get some words out clearly.  I spend hours recording, tidying up in Audacity and further fine tuning on my timeline.  Audio is the hardest part of video making.

With auto captions I wonder how it would cope with strong accents such as Geordie.  As a Londoner I cannot understand a true Geordie!  My previous Village Manager was a Geordie but her accent was half watered down so I could understand her

I somehow managed to miss this post yesterday, don't know how, but anyway...

I really did like this video Gordon, you managed to get some beautiful shots of the tree in full blossom, you should really string some more 'parts together', if this is going to be the result!! Your wife was very useful as she provided some continuity taking photos etc. I liked the holding hands sequence, as you walked towards the camera, that was enchanting.
Thanks for the link which I found eventually!

Thanks Albert, yes my wife also used to be at the other end of the camera in her younger days with things like this !

Re: Post your videos here

I obviously use a tripod especially when I am filming bands when I am in Spain with a fixed camera. However when we go for a walk I travel light and use one of these foldable cheap handholds (just like our old 8mm cine film cameras used to be like) that doubles up as a tripod. In the shut position it actually does make it easier to hold (especially in fully auto mode) OK the tripod part is OK to use in it's lowest setting but forget it fully extended if it's anymore than a very light breeze !! It's ball headed so easy to get the picture straight.

Thanks Eric.  Nicely done.  I've never seen an aquarium like this.  Incredible. It must be very well thought and maintained just like your village.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Paul.

Kelly Tarlton passed away in 1985 shortly after its opening.  It's construction was revolutionary at the time and has been used in other aquariums around the world.  Some info here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_Tar … e_Aquarium.  I find this comment interesting "Because of the refraction caused by light travelling through water, and the acrylic sheets used in the creation of the tunnel, the fish appear to be one third smaller than they are".  That means the sharks etc are actually bigger than they look.  Ouch!

I enjoyed that video, Eric. Nice job and very nice aquarium

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks, Eric. An interesting aquarium, very nicely filmed.

Turning that the other way around, if they appear to be one third smaller then their actual size is half as much again as their apparent size.

What an outstanding video Eric, I loved every second of it. The pictures were so colourful and sharp, despite the bit of condensation you mentioned "top left". I wish Colchester zoo had such good clear glass on their aquarium, it was all scratched and 'oribble when we visited last summer. Thanks, that was quite magnificent.

Yes saying they are actually half as much again would have more impact.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Albert.  Actually editing was quite a challenge.  You wouldn't recognise some of the shots from what came from my camera.  I could see from my camera screen that the auto white balance was seeing the lighting very different to my eyes.  Also the lighting varied from area to area.  A lot of colour balancing and playing with levels to produce what I felt it should look like.

Wow ! what a really well photographed and put together video !!  You almost think that you are underwater and being a qualified scuba diver I would know all about it.
The idea of a moving conveyor belt floor is certainly a good idea to keep people moving as well as a bonus for those that either have a problem walking or can't walk at all !!!!
Most aquariums that I have been to over the years can't hold a candle to this one as a lot of thought certainly went into it before it was built. Some thought also went into the lighting that added to your terrific video Eric. Really well done.
I haven't been making any videos lately as I am trying to sell off 65 years worth of "gear" from my car workshop and get it empty as someone want's to move in, and then we are off to our other abode for a while (mind you the last few days have been brilliant) to top up my tan !

Re: Post your videos here

Back here in the UK, it's bluebell time. For a complete change, we went to Riverhill Himalayan Gardens in Kent, Jill discovered it on the interweb https://www.riverhillgardens.co.uk/ It was a lovely summer's day and we had a wonderful day out, the terrain was a challenge for anyone over the age of 65 I guess, but we found ways around it!! Anyway I do hope you enjoy my video  https://youtu.be/ZXNfR-BVZ8Y A tad over nine minutes.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Albert.

Some beautiful shots.  You had a good day with clear blue sky.  Jill looks well.  That was a sneak shot of the elderly gentleman on a seat playing with his phone.  Another recycled teenager?

Re: Post your videos here

Today was the monthly meeting of my terrestrial video group.  Originally we were a registered club but wound it up a few years ago due to declining numbers.  We lasted longer than many other larger clubs.  We still meet as a group.  Our convenor now resides, with his better half, in another retirement village.  Their village is part of the same group as my village.  We have use of the movie room which has a large screen, overhead projector and gadgets with three remotes.  Today we had 11 attending and screened 7 videos, mainly older ones although I took along two short new ones.

Anyway searching through my collection for videos to take along I came across this one.  Only 3 minutes and made in 2017 for a 3 minute film competition. You've seen it before.  It's very different to my usual. I still have my clockwork cat but rarely put batteries in her nowadays.

Re: Post your videos here

Thanks Eric, I guess everybody over the age of 19 can be classified as a "recycled teenager", or do you have to own a mobile phone to qualify as one, sounds like a subject that William could quite easily get his teeth into...

I have to admit, I had to consult AI on what a terrestrial video was, I had not heard that term before, turns out that it means a video that can be shared without resorting to satellite dishes  or even an internet connection, just a straight forward antenna is needed. Every day's a school day!! Do you think that all video groups are declining, and if so, is that the result of mobile phone usage, where everyone takes video, rather than just video enthusiasts, it's a bit sad really, but things evolve and the modern generation are now taking over, with all of their gadgets that our parents wouldn't have the slightest clue about. Not sure that I do either! Enough of my ramblings.
