A German teacher, or was there some other reason for capitalizing the noun in that sentence?

Let’s get back on topic! And keep it civil, please.

I’ve created an account on Discord, but I’ve never done anything more there than editing my profile! I’m afraid I can’t see the point.

Affinity is now an all-in-one free app with native Canva integration, making it quite different from the standalone Affinity apps. This forum has been added to reflect that.

You seem to be suggesting that opposing what's happened is a prerequisite of being here: I think you will find that those of us who are happy about it will remain welcome here, too, but that will be for Alfred to decide.

I set up this site after Serif announced that the official CommunityPlus support site — for the legacy ‘Plus’ applications — was going to be closed (and not merely closed to new posts like the official Affinity Forums, but removed completely so that posts and attachments became unavailable). I added Affinity sections when the official forums were locked, providing a space where users could continue to post, and nothing that’s happened in the past sixteen hours or so has changed the purpose of those new sections.

It goes without saying that I’m very disappointed to see ad hominem attacks on you or anyone else here.

Putting all 2 and 1/2 apps in to one is a backward step.   Especially for Publisher users, the "layout" section being barely mentioned in anyone's presentation and it is looking less like an inDesign competitor by the day.

I take that you mean 2½ apps, and I presume you’re calling it that because the last standalone version of Publisher was missing a large amount of expected functionality and there are still huge gaps in that area of the new app.

Could you please share how for the benefit of others who might find this thread in future?

Easily found via the online Help page that I mentioned earlier:

https://www.affinity.studio/help/addons … ing-addons

On the Brushes panel or Path Brushes panel, select Import Brushes from the Panel Preferences menu.

Valid file types are *.afbrushes (Affinity) and *.abr (Adobe Photoshop).

The performance of the built-in search feature on the official Serif Affinity Forums has always been less than stellar. Try using one of the major Internet search engines (Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google, etc) instead, including a ‘site:’ attribute to restrict the scope of the search; e.g.

sfriedberg site:forum.affinity.serif.com

Twenty-odd years ago I acquired a copy of MS Publisher 2000 for collaborative purposes. The best thing about it was that 159 well made fonts were included in the package.

Just noticed that some of the help tutorials have been posted here: https://creofora.com/forum/index.php?th … -v3-links/

Thanks, Ali. Here’s a direct link to the new Affinity online Help: https://affinity.studio/help

Affinity by Canva is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Bahasa Indonesian, and Turkish. I’m interested to note that the list specifies Bahasa Indonesian rather than just Indonesian, but it now says Portuguese instead of Brazilian Portuguese.

I wonder whether Russian will ever return to the fold, or whether other languages that use the Cyrillic alphabet (e.g. Bulgarian, Macedonian, or Ukrainian) will be supported in the future.

Discord is full of disgruntled people who've argued for a whole month leading up to this and are arguing again now and have been since yesterday's launch: they obviously can't be happy, whichever way things go.

With a name like ‘Discord’ it would have been foolish to expect anything else!

Canva wants money from anyone who wants to use AI ‘art’ in their projects. The rest of us get to use the new Affinity by Canva app for free.

This is a shameless cross-post from the Creo forum. (Frankly, I could remember their URL better, so I went there first.) But this thread is "what do we think?" and this is what I think.

Apologies for the less than catchy URL. I set up this site rather quickly when Serif announced at quite short notice that they would be closing down their support site for the legacy ‘Plus’ software range that they dropped in favour of focusing on the Affinity suite.

Thanks for sharing your initial thoughts about the new direction for Affinity.

One other reason to go direct is for update control. If you want to revert to a previous update because one's current update has an incompatible bug, I don't think the Apple store will allow it.

I’m pretty sure that’s correct, and I believe the Microsoft Store is similarly inflexible.

JAmedia wrote:

Always go direct to the Vendor, not the Apple Shop.

One big reason is it gives flexibility on which version(s) you download. The Apple shop always and only has the latest version. Going via Affinity, you can (could?) download all versions.  And have them as actual files stored safely on your computer.

I’m happy to confirm that the Affinity Store versions are still available for download. Simply visit the appropriate one of the following pages and expand the ‘Previous versions’ section to find the link that you need (changing 2 to 1 for the version 1 downloads):

https://store.serif.com/update/windows/designer/2

https://store.serif.com/update/windows/photo/2

The Universal version 2 updates page is here:

Those superscript numerals are actually included in the fonts you mention, but I think the problem is that (for historical reasons) they aren’t in the contiguous block that you were expecting.

This says you can't create an account on affinity any more.   So whilst it fixes a few bugs (on macOS)  I am reluctant to install if if it cuts me off from my Affinity account.

It only says you can’t create a new account, it doesn’t say anything about being cut off from an existing one. If you don’t already have any Affinity software products or add-ons, the only reason to create an account would be to make purchases (which is clearly not an option at present).

Now, for unknown reasons, the available superscripts at Text, Insert, Symbol are missing half the numbers in all fonts, starting at 0 then 56789.

What fonts have you tested? There are hundreds of thousands of fonts out there, but the ones that include a full set of superscripts are probably very much in the minority, with most of the rest only including ² and ³.

Very much hoping the numerous Publisher issues I encounter are fixed hmm I still don't think Affinity have delivered a merchantable product, as of 2.6.3.

Good to see you here, Matt. Thanks for joining my merry little band.

Is there some particular reason why you’re using 2.6.3 instead of 2.6.4, or was that a typo?
